Energy Makeover for AR Manufactured Homes Contest on Track

Following a story MHProNews.com first posted May 9, 2014 regarding an energy efficiency makeover contest for an all-electric manufactured home sponsored by Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas, we have learned the homes have to be at least 320 square feet, permanently anchored and owner-occupied by a consumer member of one of the co-ops. Included among the options offered this year are geothermal heat pump technology, membrane roofing and sealant materials, and energy-efficient windows and doors, appliances and lighting. The Arkansas Manufactured Housing Association (AMHA) reports one of every three new dwellings in the state are manufactured homes, according to ect.coop. Entries must be submitted by July 15, 2014, and the winner will be announced in August. “The six previous makeover winners are enjoying lower utility bills in the comfort of their transformed homes,” said Bret Curry manager of residential energy marketing for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas. ##
