In the past two years, there have been an unprecedented amount of new regulations that have had a widespread impact on every industry, and manufactured and modular housing are no exception.
MHI has successfully prevented many burdens from being placed on the industry and its customers and has made substantial headway in dealing with financial reform, energy issues, and HUD regulatory issues. These are all important issues that all sectors of our industry must pay attention to and play an important role. Nothing can match the power of a unified industry speaking with one voice in Washington, DC!
MHI is recognized as a leader by Congress and housing related groups that shape the nation’s future policies and practices. As such, this year MHI was one of 150 top Washington, DC trade associations to receive a request from Congress to report on existing or proposed regulation that would adversely affect the business sector and impact job creation. In its report, MHI focused on critical issues such as: 1) Dodd-Frank and SAFE Act regulation, 2) reestablishing manufactured housing as a priority at HUD including the importance of a non-career administrator, 3) lack of GSE implementation on the “duty to serve” manufactured housing, and 4) barriers that dual oversight on energy standards from two separate federal agencies (HUD and Dept. of Energy) will have on housing affordability.
MHI needs your support as it continues to aggressively advance the interests of the industry and its customers. MHI believes in the industry and in the strength of its members, and knows that the interests, welfare and protection of our homebuyers is our ultimate priority.
MHI will continue to promote manufactured housing's role as a source of innovative and affordable housing, will work hard to improve the flow of capital to manufactured home lending and will always promote innovation and preserving affordability through enhanced quality and efficiency of the HUD-Code regulatory system.
