Washington, D.C., July 5, 2012 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the manufactured housing industry production rebound which began during the second half of 2011 has now extended to ten consecutive months. Just-released statistics for May 2012 indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 5,211 homes, an increase of 16.7% from the 4,464 HUD Code homes produced during May 2011. Cumulative 2012 industry production now totals 22,640 homes, up 24.8% from cumulative industry production of 18,131 homes during the same period in 2011.
A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states for the period of August 2011 to May 2012 -- with cumulative shipment totals as indicated -- are:
1. Texas -------------------------------- 8,423 homes
2. Louisiana --------------------------- 3,529 homes
3. Alabama ---------------------------- 2,335 homes
4. North Dakota ----------------------- 2,070 homes
5. North Carolina --------------------- 2,059 homes (Tie)
Florida ------------------------------ 2,059 homes (Tie)
6. Kentucky ----------------------------1,817 homes
7. Mississippi -------------------------- 1,643 homes
8. Oklahoma --------------------------- 1,390 homes
9. Maryland ---------------------------- 1,348 homes
10. Tennessee --------------------------- 1,347 homes
With the latest shipment information, Oklahoma moves ahead of Maryland, jumping from 10th place in the April 2012 statistics to 8thplace, while Tennessee moves into the Top 10.
