Let’s use the analogy of a pimple, cyst, or boil.
Sometimes, a boil must be lanced. It can be ugly - blood and pus come out - and it can be painful.
But after that unpleasant eruption, with cleansing, healing routinely follows. Why? Because pus is poison, and poison needs to be drained from the body.
What several industry voices and my hubby, Tony Kovach, are trying to do is lance the industry’s boil, hereby symbolized by the alleged misguided, missteps of a pair of top MHI staffers and those who act as their surrogates.
What have they done with the millions of dolars that have poured through MHI’s fingers in the past 5 years? Get some executive summary facts – some budget information Tony obtained and references to more, at this link here.
Several behind the scenes efforts – dating back several years - attempting to correct what was going wrong inside MHI with top staff and on other, related issues did not work.
Periodically, as recently as last week, steps were taken to attempt private resolution, which went unanswered or were rebuffed.
The Industry’s Voice and Watchdog
Ideally, what we do and what associations and companies do should complement each other.
Long before MHI’s Richard Jennison or Lesli Gooch were hired by MHI, Tony and the LifeStyle Factory Homes, LLC team – parent company to MHProNews and MHLivingNews - were working to improve the image, education, and professionalism of the industry. The good Lord willing, we’ll be doing so long after those problematic MHI hired guns are gone.
We’re also working toward preparing the next generation of leaders for our operation, so they can carry on this important work for the manufactured housing industry.
While we launched MHProNews on our own time and treasure, we immediately engaged the talents of others and have built an ever-growing number of supporters, and sponsors. For years, we’ve acted with the support and engagement from the industry.
Every time we do an emailed news update on what the industry sees as a hot topic – good or bad – traffic on our site surges. Why? Because the industry trusts us. Unlike MHI, which presents only their ‘party line’ view, we present a variety of viewpoints, including theirs and those who undertake to defend MHI’s performance, or lack thereof.
Why are a growing number of professionals – association leaders, company leaders, experts, etc. - sounding off via our MHProNews and MHLivingNews pages? Could it be because they know it’s necessary for the industry to advance to its full potential?
There are only a few possibilities that can explain what’s taking place at MHI, for whatever their motivations.
Here are the top two:
Lesli Gooch’s predecessor, Jason Boehlert’s alleged public and private errors and missteps were documented, discussed on-and-off the radar and he was wise enough to leave on his own.
Isn’t it time that the industry hold those at MHI accountable for their performance, or what they accomplished for the millions they’ve spent? Again, to learn more, click this link here.
Lancing the boil or cyst isn’t pretty, but there are times it’s necessary to restore health to that part of the body. Without the process, poison festers. But done properly, after the blood and cleansing, comes healing. ##
