What is taking place in Washington D.C. and the nation are all parts of a puzzle. To get the complete picture, one must look at every aspect of the puzzle, or there will a lack of clarity as to why tax reform, health care, regulatory reform, or others issues that impact Manufactured Housing Industry, current and potential home owners are stuck in the D.C. swamp.

Jennifer Harper’s thoughtful column “This Is What Pushing Back Looks Likein the Washington Times brought this recent Rush Limbaugh quote below to the attention of the Daily Business News.

Limbaugh’s site reflected the transcript of what Harper referenced in his recent radio show.

The talk-radio celebrity spoke about Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen’s widely reported walk-out after several players ‘took a knee’ during the Pledge of Allegiance at the Colts-49 Sunday game – as follows.

First the Scenario and Example, Then the MH Industry Takeaway

“…This is what the left not getting away with setting the narrative and determining who can and who can’t say anything… This is what it looks like. This is what it looks like when you push back against it. You may find it uncomfortable. You people think… You may buy into this notion, “Gee, I wish the vice president hadn’t gone in there and hijacked the Peyton Manning statue unveiling.”

The So-Called ‘Culture War’ is Something More…

In “Never Let a Serious Crisis Go To Waste,” MHProNews outlined some of the ways that Saul Alinsky’s modern disciples think and behave.  That report quotes Alinsky and his modern followers, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Secretary Hillary Clinton and 44th President Barack Obama.

That Alinsky “playbook” has been fairly effectively used by progressives for decades. Those who seek to limit government’s intrusions and overreaches thus need to learn that playbook, and how to pushback against it.

One can agree with 21st Mortgage President, CEO and prior MHI Chairman Tim Williams’ presentation – from which the slide above was taken with permission – while still questioning how it came to be that Williams was being intellectually at odds with Berkshire Hathaway Chairman, Warren Buffett. But with President Trump, and VP Mike Pence, they are taking their oppositions’ narratives head-on.

That push back, has some pundits saying that the president is winning” on this issue.  That in turn could energize his base, and help move his agenda forward against “the swamp” of Washington, D.C.

Well, Pence and Trump are not taking it anymore, and this is what it looks like. For decades now, we have become conditioned to just accept any and all anti-American displays. We’re supposed to be tolerant,” Limbaugh said.

Harper observed that, “Some of the media, however, have suggested that Mr. Trump is emerging as the victor. Donald Trump is now winning the national anthem debate without question, according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith,” writes Ford Springer, who covers entertainment for the Daily Caller and tracked the analyst’s comments.”

The Drudge Report has been reporting for weeks that NFL popularity is dropping.

Millions of people pledge their allegiance to the Constitution and the flag, which represents that allegiance. That allegiance supersedes allegiance to any NFL team or to any cause,” said Limbaugh. “There’s a strong and binding culture that exists among people who don’t live in elitists bubbles. Donald Trump sides with the people because he thinks they’re right. There isn’t any hidden agenda here. There are no double standards.”

It’s just simply about right and wrong,” Limbaugh stated, “It’s the practical exception of patriotism, and it’s being assaulted.”

Who hijacked what? Why is the MH Industry’s agenda in Washington, D.C. stuck? Whichever side someone happens to be on regarding the NFL controversy, the principle that MH Advocate, Rev Donald Tye Jr makes is this. Division is a tool for “the powers that be,” to “divide and rule” Americans. The controversy could be about almost anything. The Vice President had the same rights as those players who took that knee. “This is what push-back looks like.”

The MH Industry Takeaway?

For years, publisher L. A. ‘Tony’ Kovach has promoted the notion that the industry must push-back against false or misleading media, governmental, or other third-party narratives.

Frank Rolfe has made similar statements in the last year too.

FrankRolfeMHFundRVHorizonsMobileHomeUniversityDailyBusinessNewsManufacturedHomeIndustryResearchReportsDataAnalysisMHProNews595Bob Crawford, president of historic Dick Moore Housing has said that the Manufactured Housing Institute is at best “a 5 out of 10” at representing independents in the industry.

At the recent Deadwood conference, Kovach energized the industry attendees by saying that the industry and its consumers deserved a robust public defense, comparing what the consultant and his clients do to a modern civil rights issue for the industry, its professionals and consumers.

Manufactured housing advocate, the Rev. Donald Tye, Jr. has taken strong stands with media who have slandered manufactured housing.

Tye explained that public housing – an entitlement – often yields addiction. Ownership vs. renting or living in “projects” leads to integrity, a view he likens to those of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) has routinely joined in when asked by MHProNews to comment about some media incident or inaccurate study.

MHARR has for years ‘pushed back’ against the forces arrayed against their regulatory reform agenda in D.C., as this new linked item reflects.

Numerous industry professionals have done similarly on various occasions, when asked by MHProNews or MHLivingNews to comment on hot topics of the day

Some of those published rebuttal comments are the only serious pushback the industry has given to harmful and inaccurate reporting by perhaps well meaning, but nevertheless errant, reporting.  The PBS, NPR, News & Observer graphic is but one of dozens of examples of how that’s been done.

Pushback

The president and vice president push back.

The NAACP or ADL pushed back for decades, until they got the respect in the public square their respective groups deserved.

The time for more in manufactured housing to push-back is now, argues consultant, trade publisher and speaker Kovach.

And the award-winning industry veteran says that pushback has to be at the local level

Not top down, but bottom up.

Kovach agrees with the state association leader who advised not to defend alleged bad actors who draw negative media.

But when the benefit of the doubt or facts support

  • manufactured homes,
  • a professional, and/or
  • the industry’s home owners,

pushing back is also how winning will be achieved and accomplished, he says.

The reason we have the largest professional audience in the industry’s history is because we strive to fight for what’s right, and won’t lay down for what we believe is wrong,” Kovach asserts.

And in Washington or locally, just as the president, vice-president, Steve Bannon, Larry Kudlow, Sebastian Gorka, NFIB, MHARR, and a host of others are showing by example, the industry needs to stand up and fight for what’s right,” Kovach said.

Failure to stand up for what’s right, allows the opposition to win by default.

Pushback with the truth well told,” Kovach advocates. That’s what will lead to acceptance and winning for our industry, the public and home owners That’s what will lead to increases that will surpass the industry’s heyday.” ## (News, analysis, commentary.)
