Veterans Lose Needed Modular Housing

triblive reports from Kittaning, Pennsylvania northeast of Pittsburgh the Mechling-Shakely Veterans Center in Sugarcreek for chronically homeless veterans was unable to raise the $56,000 in matching funds to add five modular housing units to the center as planned. The $600,000 grant was funded partly by HUD’s Continuum of Care program and by the HOME Program grant through the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development. MHProNews has learned since the funding was destined only to house 15 additional vets, it had to be returned. The center plans to use its personal funds instead for upgrading the existing facility.
