In 2018, Statista says that there were some 127.59 million households in the United States.

In their analysis of what several Democrats are now referring to as the “aspirational” Green New Deal (GND), estimates that the housing cost component of the plan could range from $1.6 trillion to $4.2 trillion dollars.

To put that in perspective, according to February 2019 data from the U.S. Census Bureau that covers the period of September 2018, the average sales price for a new manufactured home is $83,600.  So, if every household were to receive a brand-new HUD Code manufactured home at that average sales price, it would cost $10,666,524,000,000.

Here’s what the American Action Forum says that the broad-brush costs of the Green New Deal would look like.

To put that in further context, the U.S. now has $22 trillion in federal debt.  This sum would be more that 2 to 4 times that amount, which took the nation’s federal government over 200 years to build up.  The Green New Deal is proposing to spend that in a decade.
