Toxic Combination of Big Business in Bed with Big Government, Rules for Radicals, Generation Zero

As previous and upcoming reports will highlight, the political winds are blowing in several different directions.  Those winds could well mean, as Mark Weiss, President and CEO of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) has said, a narrowing window of opportunity for manufactured housing.

Ideas have consequences,” Steve Bannon and the Generation Zero video shown below state, but they were not the first to say so.  Nor where they the first to refer to Saul Alinsky’s book – “Rules for Radicals,”  – as the “bible for [left wing] activists.”

Snopes says, “…the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer,” wrote Saul Alinksy in the foreword to his infamous Rules for Radicals.

The Generation Zero video notes that Alinksy inspired part of the “Cloward–Piven strategy,” which Wikipedia describes, political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty.”

Once you lead the nation to the point of bankruptcy, then the nation becomes ripe for revolutionary change, Cloward and Piven believed.

What Cloward and Piven didn’t know in their day was that Russia and China abandoned their long experiment with socialism/communism, keeping strong central government, but using several free market, low taxes, low regulations principles.  But that doesn’t mean that Cloward/Piven would have changed their views.

The Cloward/Piven strategy was to load America up with debt, and undermine free enterprise, which they termed using the Marxist term, “capitalism.”

The video below uses several powerful quotes, including biblical and one from the British philosopher, G. K. Chesterton who said “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.”

The President Denies it, Democrat Alan Dershowitz Defended Bannon

President Trump and Secretary Hillary Clinton supporter and prominent Democratic attorney, Alan Dershowitz, have both said that they see no evidence of racism in Bannon.

So who is Steve Bannon and Breitbart?

Why did Bannon leave the White House and the Trump Administration?  If “personnel equals policy,” in politics as some argue, with Steve Bannon – along with Fox News regular, Sebastian Gorka – out of President Donald J. Trump’s circle of advisers, will the Trump Administration fundamentally change?  If so, how?

How will all this play out on its impact of the markets, the economy, and manufactured housing’s opportunities?

This Daily Business News (DBN) report will focus on a specific part of those timely questions.  Who is Steve Bannon and Breitbart News?

The New York Times Magazine, Patheos, and Reddit were among numerous sources that reported on a recent “extensive” Harvard/MIT study of their published material that delved into those two questions.

They concluded that Bannon and Breitbart where right-of-center, but not ‘alt-right,’ meaning not racist.

Essayist Wil S. Hylton spoke to Harvard law professor Yochai Benkler.  Benkler studied the “rise and influence” of Breitbart News. Using their “colossal database” at Harvard and MIT, their Media Cloud reviewed ten years of articles.

According to Hylton, “the last thing Yochai Benkler noted before” … “left his office at Harvard was that his team had performed a textual analysis of all the stories in their database, and they found a surprising result.”

One thing that came out very clearly from our study is that Breitbart is not talking about these issues in the same way you would find on the extreme right,’’ he said. ‘‘They don’t use the same language you find on sites like VDARE and The Daily Stormer’ — two sites connected to white-nationalism and the alt-right movement. He paused for a moment, then added: ‘‘Breitbart is not the alt-right.’’

Newsweek quoted a Wall Street Journal interview where Bannon was quoted in 2016 as saying, “I’m an economic nationalist. I am an America-first guy. And I have admired nationalist movements throughout the world, have said repeatedly strong nations make great neighbors,”

I’ve also said repeatedly that the ethno-nationalist movement, prominent in Europe, will change over time. I’ve never been a supporter of ethno-nationalism,” Bannon added.

Many on the right-wing side of the media are concerned that with Bannon out, that the Trump Administration will become the third term of President Obama, as WND was cited as saying.  But that ignores Trump’s own speeches last week, as well as the 45th president’s extensive history on his stated positions.

To better understand Bannon, a look at a pre-Trump era documentary he was part of called Generation Zero is instructive. ## (News, analysis.)
