Tiny Modular Home Constructed of Hempcrete

hemmpcrete__greenrushdaily__credit__hemp_stalks_limestone_and_waterThe newest material for building a home that MHProNews has discovered is hempcrete, a combination of hemp stalks (called hurds), limestone and water to form twelve-inch thick walls for support and insulation in building a 400 square-foot unit called HempHome:T+. The material is also resistant to fire, mold and pests, reports greenrushdaily.

Built by Green Built, and led by architect Christina Griffin, the solar photovoltaic thermal system provides the home with electricity, heat and hot water –no fossil fuels. The heat recovery ventilation helps maintain airflow and regulate temperature in this most unique-looking modular house.

HempHome is the first hempcrete house to meet standards of The Passive House Institute.

Additionally, the home can be custom made to suit the buyer. ##
