The final numbers are in for the 2017 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show, and they show another increase in attendance.

We had 1,933 people representing 753 companies in these four categories. If you add in the additional representatives in these categories, it comes to 346 more people in 2017 than came in 2016. This is a significant increase from one year to the next,” Dennis Hill of Show Ways Unlimited, Show Coordinator told MHProNews.

In addition, if you add in the exhibitors and special guests, our total number comes to 2,929 individuals representing 962 companies. I think everybody would agree that this year’s show was a success. The degree of enthusiasm was most rewarding. We are looking forward to the 2018 show. Again, thanks for your continued support for the Louisville Show. Without you, nothing happens!

Manufacturers gave the show a solid B (on an A to F grading scale),”  outgoing Show Chairman, Ron Thomas Sr., told MHProNews.

The show was an improvement over last year, exhibitors told MHProNews, but still not what the show was like 15 or more years ago.  Exhibitors agreed that the show traffic was up over 2016, some said, due in part to the improved weather this year over last.

The total number of homes on display was down slightly from the prior year, but the feedback from attendees on the models on display was routinely positive.  ##

2-7-2016ManufacturedHousngRevolution-credit-DailyBusinessNewsMHProNews-(c)2016At the depth of the Obama-era great recession, Ron Thomas Sr. – MMHF Chairman and RV MH Hall of Fame founder of Rona Homes – said that the industry needed to stop comparing its performance to the peak of 1998; rather, Thomas suggested that MH Professionals must look at 2009-2010 years as the new baseline. From that baseline, the MH Industry needed to stabilize and grow.

More recently, Thomas has said that manufactured housing needed to take the next steps in recovery.

Thomas reasoned that the industry now needs to look to our true market potential, to see how high we’ve previously been, so that we could once more rise upward to more historic new home sales levels.RonThomasSr-MMHFChairman-MHProNews-

January 15th, 2015 Comments off

ron-thomas-sr-rv-mh-hall-of-fame-mmhf-chairman-mhpronews-Manufactured Home Community (MHC) owner, Hall of Famer and MMHF Chairman Ron Thomas Sr. says there is a hunger in the ranks of MHPros for knowledge. Over two thousand attendees of the Louisville Manufactured Housing Show in 2014 must agree. The pre-registrations for the 2015 Show are running ahead of last year’s post 2010 record numbers, so cold weather is not slowing the pace.

While retailers, builder/developers or installers have plenty to see and do, those in the MHC world who are within a day’s drive or flight of Louisville, KY, will have their own special presentation on how to get the job in MHCs profitably done.

Last year it was Standing Room Only (SRO) at most of the Business Building Seminars at the 2014 Louisville Show. The Lessons Learned in Manufactured Home Communities was one of those packed-room sessions.Ross_Kinzler_credit_Community_Connections_posted_on_MHProNews

Maria Horton – Newport Pacific Family of Companies. Newport Pacific owns and fee manages manufactured home communities, has a stand alone company, Cirus Development and does unique near-net-zero super-energy saving factory built homes and more.

The youngest exhibitor at the Show was Tamas (pronounced tah-mash) Kovach, right front. Soheyla Kovach, Jeff Templeton and Matthew Silver (L-R) all with MHProNews.com (MHMSM.com).

The Kovach family, including young Tamas who at age 8 is billed as the MH Industry’s youngest exhibitor, and the MHProNews videographer will be at the seminars, booth #115 or on the show floor.

In the videos from the 2014 Louisville Show, it is worth noting the common comments from attendess that you boost your chances for success by beginning your year at this, the best attended manufactured housing trade show. The latest long range forecast is for highs in the 40s or upper 30s, with no snow.  But as show veterans know, it is a good idea to plan to spend Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Louisville, so you can catch all of the seminars, exhibits and homes on display.

Most MH professionals can attend the trade show – which is not open to the public – free with a business card and photo ID, click here for those details.  The Louisville Manufactured Home Show website is linked here. ##

Louisville Show is Approaching a Sell-Out

July 28th, 2014 Comments off

2014-louisville-manufactured-housing-show-crowd-photo-credits-mhpronews-manufacturedhomes-com-There are almost 6 months to go before the start of the 2015 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show, and booth space and manufacturers exhibit space is approaching a sell out.  MHProNews has learned there will be 2 new factory builders planning for the 2015 event, and apparently all the current manufactured and modular builders are expected to return.

Registration for the 2015 show opens on October 1, 2014.  Dennis Hill of Show Ways Unlimited suggests it’s wise to mark your calendars now for the 2015 show.

“Louisville has been the best attended industry event 2 years in a row.” Dennis Hill said.  “As videos from attendees in 2014 posted on our updated show website underscore, the enthusiasm and value for attending the show has not been better in a decade. Our popular Business Building Seminars will be back, and because they were often standing room only in 2014, we’ve expanded the seminar space.  The full seminar line up will be available this fall.”

Show Chairman Ron Thomas Sr. had only this to say, “It’s the best way to start off your new year. Don’t miss it!” ##

Invitation and 2014 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show Updates

December 10th, 2013 Comments off

H:\1 SK MHMSM\1 DBN\kmhi-ky-manufactured-housing-institute-reception-mixer-2014-louisville-show-posted-daily-business-news-mhpronews-com-.pngPre-registrations for the 2014 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show are up over 50% over the same time frame as last year. So state the facts supplied by Show Ways Unlimited, who manage the show for the Midwest Manufactured Housing Federation (MMHF).

Show Chairman Ron Thomas, Sr. reports that in 2013, “Louisville in 2013 we had 1370 builder/developers, retailers, community and owners/operators, representing 573 different companies who attended.”

If that 50% increase in registrations for the industry’s largest event trend holds, that would mean that over 2,000 attendees would arrive in Louisville in 2014. Combined with exhibitors, it could yield a total attendance of over 3,000, compared to some 830 that go to the Manufactured Housing Institute’s (MHI’s) fine annual Congress and Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“It is an interesting comparison, but frankly it’s not exactly apples to apples.” said L. A. “Tony” Kovach, industry veteran and point man for the online promotion for the Louisville Show.

“Louisville will have 48 new model homes on display.” Kovach explained. “These decorated models will include manufactured homes and modular homes. MHC owner/operators will find Community Series Homes (CSH) on display. Retailers and builder/developers will see residential style and entry level multi-sectional and single section homes. MHI’s annual Vegas event is terrific, I love to go there too. Both Louisville and MHI’s Congress and Expo (C&E) have educational seminars and booths. MHI’s C&E by contrast has more educational events. But having homes on display ads a very different dynamic to what happens in the climate controlled Kentucky Expo Center, where the all-indoor 2014 Louisville Show is held.”

Speaking of MHI, Kovach added that the MHI staff – including their NCC division – will be very visible at Louisville in 2014. “Dick Jennison’s and his colleagues will be co-hosting a mixer with the Kentucky Manufactured Housing Institute (KMHI). Betty Whittaker does a great job with that and combined with MHI’s presence, it ought to be terrific.”

The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) members often have a private meeting during the Show.

“Norris Homes made the decision to display at the 2012 Louisville Home show after being absent for several years.” said Gary Boerner. “I can honestly say we will not be absent again. The dealer traffic was great and we were able to see and talk to prospects we might have never been exposed to.  It turned out to be a great decision on our part. We are looking forward to another successful show in 2014.”

Skyline Homes’ Terry Decio indicated they will display 4 homes in the KEC’s East Wing, next to the “Show Me the Money!” Seminar room. Enthusiasm is high, with sold out show space and the large boost in early registrations.

“The Louisville Manufactured Housing Show is an excellent showcase…With many networking opportunities and a well laid out exhibitor area, we look forward to the 2014 event as an opportunity to grow our manufactured housing business.” said Sherrie Clevenger, NADAguides. ##

Louisville Manufactured Housing Show Draws Praise and Enhanced Interest

October 9th, 2013 Comments off

louisville-manufactured-housing-show-daily-business-news-mhpronews-com-The early sellout of model home floor space for the 2014 Louisville Show is one of many signs that the trade show is on a strong track. Last year set a post 2010 record for attendance, making Louisville the best attended manufactured housing industry event.

Attendees MHProNews has spoken to often mirror what Bob and Janet McDonald said, “The Louisville show is a MUST see. I was very impressed at the last show and I can’t wait to see the exhibitors at this year’s Louisville show.” Exhibit space is also almost sold out, for reasons highlighted by Ralph Metcalf from CuttingSystem who stated that “The Louisville Show is an excellent venue to introduce your products to the manufactured housing community. Manufacturers, dealers and set up personal all have a chance to view your offerings. We have been very successful at this show and highly recommend it.’”

Manufacturers have praised the show too. Gary Boerner from Norris Homes frankly observed: Norris Homes made the decision to display at the 2012 Louisville Home show after being absent for several years. I can honestly say we will not be absent again. The dealer traffic was great and we were able to see and talk to prospects we might have never been exposed to.  It turned out to be a great decision on our part. We are looking forward to another successful show in 2014.”

Wally Comer from Adventure Homes radiated praise for the Show, as well as for Ron Thomas Sr. – Show Chairman – and Dennis Hill – Show Coordinator – in his exclusive interview linked here.

Publisher and industry consultant L. A. ‘Tony’ Kovach said, “From ‘mom and pops’ to mid-sized operations along side the largest players in the industry flocked to Louisville last year. More pros seeking to grow are bound to come in 2014. The strategies to move from survive to thrive will be showcased in the free educational offerings. Want to grow? Be there!”

Pre-registration is open along with many more details found at the Louisville Show website. ##

MHI Chairman to Attend Louisville Show in January

November 16th, 2011 Comments off

MHProNews has learned that Cavco Industries CEO and Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) Chairman Joe Stegmayer has accepted the invitation from the Midwest Manufactured Housing Federation (MMHF) to address the 2012 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show. When asked what topics he plans to cover, Stegmayer replied, “On behalf of MHI and the company I represent, Cavco/Fleetwood, I will discuss MHI and our industry’s efforts to work with FHA on financing and with HUD on regulatory matters. I also will look forward to sharing news about the growing membership in MHI and our search for a new president.”

MHProNews asked Indiana Manufactured Housing Association (IMHA) executive director Mark Bowersox about the development. “Having Joe Stegmayer represent the Manufactured Housing Institute at the Louisville show creates a great opportunity for all industry members to hear about the national issues that impact their businesses everyday. In my opinion, Joe’s attendance, along with the increased size of the show, makes this a must attend event for anyone within driving distance of Louisville,” Bowersox said.

The MMHF state execs, show chairman Ron Thomas Sr., Dennis Hill and I are all very pleased to have MHI’s Chairman of the Board, Joe Stegmayer, attending the Louisville Show in January 2012. Last year was a strong return (for the Show) with lots of positive energy from attendees and exhibitors. The 2012 event promises to be even better. There are great networking and deal making opportunities. The business and profit building seminars and workshops alone would make the flight or drive worth while. There are more homes, products and services on tap that can easily be compared, all indoors in the state of the art Kentucky Exhibition Center (KEC).Those who come should walk away prepared to advance and improve in the new year. As a retailer, manufactured home community operator, developer, supplier or vendor, I would hate to miss this event. We will be there to hear what Joe Stegmayer and so many other movers and shakers will offer us.” said MHProNews publisher Tony Kovach.
