Insightful Quotes for Manufactured Home Business, Investors, and Professionals

The quotes that follow from the first two nights of the 2020 Democratic primary are not to be construed as an endorsement of that candidate or their positions.  In some cases, the quotes are aimed to underscore claims backed by evidence.  The candidate may be right on the facts but may or may not be correct in their proposal to deal with those facts.

 

With that said, consider these pull quotes, taken from the full debate transcripts from NBC, linked here.

  • It has been far too long that the monopolies have been making the campaign contributions, have been funding the super PACs, have been out there making sure that their influence is heard and felt in every single decision that gets made in Washington.” Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA-D).

I think we have a serious problem in our country with corporate consolidation. And you see the evidence of that in how dignity is being stripped from labor, and we have people that work full-time jobs and still can’t make a living wage.

We see that because consumer prices are being raised by pharmaceutical companies that often have monopolistic holds on drugs. And you see that by just the fact that this is actually an economy that’s hurting small businesses and not allowing them to compete.

One of the most aggressive bills in the Senate to deal with corporate consolidation is mine about corporate consolidation in the ag sector. So I feel very strongly about the need to check the corporate consolidation and let the free market work.” Senator Cory Booker (NJ-D).

So the way I understand this, it’s there is way too much consolidation now in giant industries in this country. That hurts workers. It hurts small businesses. It hurts independent farmers. It hurts our economy overall.

And it helps constrict real innovation and growth in this economy.

Now, look, we’ve had the laws out there for a long time to be able to fight back. What’s been missing is courage, courage in Washington to take on the giants. That’s part of the corruption in this system.” – Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA-D).

 

  • “…the 40 million of us who can’t start a family, can’t take a good idea and start a business and can’t buy our first home.” – Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-D).

 

Socialism, in that sense, is not the solution. We have to look at what really will make a difference

I’m a small-business owner who brought that same scrappy spirit to big Colorado, one of the most progressive states in America.” – former Governor John Hickenlooper.

 

  • “…And at a time when we have three people in this country owning more wealth than the bottom half of America, while 500,000 people are sleeping out on the streets today, we think it is time for change, real change.” Senator Bernie Sanders (VT-I, causes with Democrats).

 

  • Right now, we have a system that favors those who can pay for access and outcomes. That’s how you explain an economy that is rigged to corporations and to the very wealthiest.” Former Texas Congressman Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke.

 

I think we have to do real things to help American workers and the American people. Right? This is the issue that all of us hear on the campaign trail…

Then we’ve got to fix our public education system. It’s not delivering the results our kids needs, nor is college and post high school career and technical training programs doing that. You know, I’m very different than everyone else here on the stage. Prior to being in Congress, I was an entrepreneur. I started two businesses. I created thousands of jobs. I spent my whole career helping small- to mid-sized businesses all over the country, 5,000 of them I supported. The Obama administration gave me an award for lending to disadvantaged communities.

  • I was 6 years old when a presidential candidate came to the California Democratic Convention and said it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans. That candidate was then-Senator Joe Biden. Joe Biden was right when he said it was time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans 32 years ago. He is still right today.” – Congressman Eric Swalwell (CA-D).

 

There were other noteworthy quotes shared by many of the candidates, not just those noted above or that follow.  A weakness in the format was arguably that there was too few serious follow up questions. For example, in areas where the income inequality, the education process, housing policy, or gun laws have been in Democratic hands for decades, how do those candidates explain that they want to move the nation ahead with their plan, when prior efforts clearly failed?

Wittingly or not, NBC moderator Jose Diaz-Balart made that point with respect to New York City with this question: “Mayor De Blasio, good evening. You’re the mayor of the biggest city in the United States, but it’s also one of the cities in the country with the greatest gap between the wealthy and the poor. How would you address income inequality?”

In that sense of candidates with longer records and little to show for it are perhaps among the most vulnerable contenders.  An example of such is former Vice President Joe Biden. When any candidate says they can ‘fix’ the economy to be more fair to the worker, or fix the problem of big business consolidating smaller ones and their overbearing market and political power, how can they say that with a straight face?  Especially when they had years in office to do so, but failed to do it?  Or, how can a candidate rail against ‘Wall Street,’ or big businesses, when they have accepted years of campaign contributions from some of those same big corporate interests directly or through PACs?

 

  • Yes, they will pay more in taxes, but less in health care for what they get.” – Senator Bernie Sanders. What wasn’t nailed down in that bit of candor is the point made by Thomas Sowell.

Be it heath insurance, which is not the same as health care, or most any other instance one cares to mention, government routinely is less efficient than the private sector. The waiting time for treatments in Canada and England for certain procedures with their socialized medical care can be months to years.  That’s why the solution linked here, which costs less and is already proven to work, is but one example of free enterprise offering solutions that big government has failed to deliver.  Why have so many members of both major parties largely ignored that proven pathway?

Whatever the answer to that question, that being so, what must occur is fostering more competition, not less of it.  That’s why the issue of consolidation and monopolization should be important to every American.  It is an area that Democrats – at least in their talking points – have been engaged on more than the GOP, which some have taken notice and are mimicking. While some monopolistic minded businesses may give away something free or at lower cost to gain market share, in time, other options are eliminated. Once no other options exist, where will the competition be to keep prices in check?

That’s why some of those quotes from Democratic candidates cited above are important. As Senator Warren has put it, the laws needed to address these challenges are already on the books. They should be enforced.

What members of both major parties should do, with respect to manufactured housing, is hold hearings to explore how market dominance was or is being achieved, and through prompt public hearings put pressure on federal agencies to act sooner, than later.

 

The Manufactured Housing Connections, Opportunities and Obstacles

Manufactured home professionals should take heart that HUD Secretary Ben Carson has been pushing a narrative for some 2 years, and has recently connected it directly with manufactured housing.  Carson’s recent speech in New Orleans de facto addresses how manufactured homes could play an important role in addressing the issue of income inequality in a way that – at least so far – not one of the Democratic candidates have made a similar tie-in.

Dr. Carson’s evidence based notion is this. Home ownership is perhaps the most proven form of personal or household wealth creation. As Carson said in his speech linked here and above, the typical home owning family has a net worth of some $200,000 vs. the typical renter having a net worth of only some $5,000. Carson further pointed out that FHFA data reflects the point that manufactured homes can appreciate in value too. Rephrased, Carson confirmed prior data points made by researchers, for example, linked here.

The thumbnail analysis above should not be construed to mean that the GOP has every answer, nor that the Democrats do.  There are areas that each major party tends to have a superior or inferior track record.

What citizens must recognize is that identifying a problem is only the start. When someone says ‘free college tuition,’ the same principle that Senator Sanders said applies.  There is nothing free, someone always pays.  Sanders admitted that the middle class will have to pay more in taxes for so-called ‘free’ health care. The same principle applies to free education or any other government handout.

How many taxpayers will be willing to pay for free healthcare for hundreds of thousand to potentially millions of new illegal immigrants a year?  When the Trump Campaign starts hammering home those and other points, Democrats will have to pivot or look like they lack basic math skills. Yet on the second night of the primary debates in Miami, all 10 Democrats on stage raised their hand to say that their health care plan would cover all border crossers.

Do they realize that if that would be true, then what is to stop someone from coming to the U.S. by plane boat, or via the northern border?  Get to the U.S., and you’ll get free healthcare, and a raft of other promises of free stuff?

That’s a concern that a few Democrats have prudently raised. Time will tell if they pivot.  If they don’t, will promises of free stuff that can’t possibly be honored triumph over reality?  We’ll see.

The path to prosperity is arguably found in a combination of factors:

  • breaking up the power of huge conglomerates that drive down employment and keep wages lower in the process.
  • Illegal immigration creates a large pool of lower wage workers too, so controlling borders to prevent illegal entry and vetting who is allowed into enter the country is just common sense that most nations follow.
  • Creating a path to sustainable home ownership that is as simple as possible is prudent too.

These are issues that some Democrats have already proven their ability to engage in positively, as have some Republicans.

  • Facts vs. fantasy.
  • Truth over false promises.
  • Equality of opportunity and rights, not contrived or forced outcomes.
  • Economic basics being applied.

These are some of the things that more of America’s elected and appointed political leaders must learn to embrace.  The late Democratic leader, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, wisely said the following famous maxim.

NBC’s Savanah Guthrie asked Colorado’s former governor the following. “Governor Hickenlooper… You’ve warned that Democrats will lose in 2020 if they “embrace socialism,” as you put it.”

Hickenlooper replied, “Well, I think that the bottom line is, if we don’t clearly define that we are not socialists, the Republicans are going to come at us every way they can and call us socialists.”

Right or wrong, belief in socialism is rising, but is still not half of the population.  But when on scratches deeper, what has a broad coalition across the left-right spectrum is a belief that the system is rigged. Many who think they want socialism actually want justice. They want to level the playing field.

That’s where the fertile ground could be found for those willing to tackle in an honest and sensible fashion what has gone wrong for so many in America.  That includes why so many don’t get it that manufactured housing is a valid solution for the American Dream of home ownership, along with the how and why that understanding has been thwarted.

There is plenty of fertile ground for the GOP or Democrats to work in concert, or to campaign on a platform that will be more than empty promises.

It is real challenges and pragmatic solutions that we strive to monitor, fact-check, and report on here at MHProNews.

People invest in, open or maintain a business with certain goals in mind. Among them is to serve a slice of the public, and for ‘white hat’ operations, to earn a profit honorably in some form or fashion.

 

 

The ways that honest profit can be earned are as many and varied as the imaginations of millions of people in America make possible. Which is why, to a certain extent, the notion of ‘one size fits all’ is an illusion.

It is axiomatic that there are no too people exactly alike. The country singer John Rich posted earlier this week on the Daily Business News on MHProNews will appeal to thousands of readers here, but to some more than others. This duet of Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli, singing their classic “Time to Say Goodbye” (1997) will move some to tears from just listening to it — even if you or they don’t grasp the meaning of the words so passionately performed.

On the time played this morning, about 5:49 AM ET, the video duet has had 44,864,417 views, some 229k ‘thumbs up,’ and only 10k ‘thumbs down.’  

Think about it. Over 44 million views. More on that another time too.

While each of those data points regarding Time to Say Goodbye” has significance, it clearly reflects that far more people are moved by this musical performance than those who are turned off by it. What about you?

What does this have to do with manufactured housing? Nothing; and everything. More on that further below too.

According to the YouTube page of axedagobert22, the video posted above was published on Oct 18, 2012. 

The axedagobert22 post explains that “In November 1996, Andrea and Sarah Brightman were invited to perform the duet ‘Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)’ at the farewell contest of the German World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion, Henry Maske. A national hero held in unrivaled esteem, he is known for his love of selecting entrance themes to his bouts.  

Sarah Brightman, the internationally renowned soprano and friend of Henry Maske heard ‘Con Te Partirò‘ in a restaurant while dining with her friends. Entranced by the singer and the song, Brightman made contact with Andrea. Andrea and Brightman re-recorded ‘Con Te Partirò‘ as the duet ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ with members of the London Symphony Orchestra.  

This live version is from Brightman’s first full concert recording, “Sarah Brightman: In Concert”, from London’s Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Paul Bateman. Guest artists include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Adam Clark and Andrea Bocelli. The concert was released to video in 1998.

For those willing to step outside of the box, many things are possible, but none are accomplished without risk, effort, or struggle.

When you entered this field of endeavor, you too had some expectation or vision.  Perhaps that has been encouraged, perhaps it has been dashed, derailed, or shunted down an unexpected track.  You can cry about it, laugh, or dig in and do your best to figure it all out.

Those who knew Walker will get it. Those who never met him, might get a glimpse into the man from those few words.

This website isn’t about us, it is about professionals like yourself. Some love rock, others rap. Your customers may listen to music in in their pickup or car that is Spanish or English. Out industry is underperforming. It is almost guaranteed that your location(s) are too.  To some, that is an ‘inexplicable’ downturn, given the affordable housing crisis. But to be honest, figuring out why that downturn exists isn’t too hard for those willing to step outside their comfort zone and seek the truth.

Let’s be clear.  Even our fans or sponsors of MHProNews and MHLivingNews don’t always feel comfortable with something we publish.  That is especially so for those who read here, but aren’t fans of ours at all.  Part of the job of authentic media – be it mainstream or trade journalism – is to challenge people, especially when circumstances demand it.  You can find syrupy cheerleading somewhere else only, but you better take toothpaste, an electric tooth brush, and some dental floss with you.  Because after reading some competing voices for too long, their content might rot your teeth – or turn your mind into mush.

To get beyond underperformance, one logically must begins with understanding. After understanding begins, then one must move on to action plan and begin to execute the necessary steps. In an housing industry that does north of 1.5 trillion dollars a year in sales, there is simply no excuse for doing under $8 billion dollars in total retail last year.  That’s embarrassing. But that means there is tremendous upside. 

 

Time to Say Goodbye…

We are soon going to say goodbye to this version of our MHProNews website. The new version is approaching. There will be road bumps. C’est la vie! That’s life!

Once the new version is up, and the inevitable bugs are tweaked, there will be new manufactured home industry initiatives launched as well as fostered.

Our parent company – LifeStyle Factory Homes, LLC – are planning for the brighter future for the white hats of our industry, because we are true believers.

Thoughtful words, worth pondering.

 

There is a need for new events, new business alliances, and new visions that can be achieved instead of the sweet-sounding words found elsewhere, which they write while the industry is shrinking and consolidating during an affordable housing crisis.  Common sense alone tells the doers in our industry that it isn’t weather, or inventory adjustments, or tariffs, or whatever other excuses some peddle.

HUD Secretary Ben Carson has made certain things possible in his efforts before and during the Innovative Housing Showcase (IHS). He’s built on the efforts of other who came before him, but he has also led the way in several laudable efforts.  More on that in the linked related reports, below the byline and notices.

But much more needs to be done, because the HUD Code manufactured home industry is in a downturn during an affordable housing crisis. One might aptly think of this as a ‘manufactured crisis.’

Because a handful of people could snap their fingers, and the manufactured home shipment decline would reverse. Never, ever forget that point.

That point means that those who are scratching their heads must study, understand, plan, and then act.

Howard Walker, Mensch – Equity LifeStyle Properties (ELS), Manufactured Homes Retrospective

It’s a Jewish tradition when someone dies to say, “May his or her memory be for blessing.” The actual honorific is “of blessed memory,” a translation of the Hebrew “zikhrono livrakha” (m.) or “zikhronah livrakha” (f.)…I tend to say, “May his or her memory be a blessing.”” – Nina Amir.

 

When a long-time industry friend and colleague of Howard Walker’s heard we planned this article, he asked us to say in this retrospective, “Be sure to say that Howard Walker was a Mensch.”

Howard Walker, JD, served as Equity LifeStyle Properties (ELS) Vice Chairman for many years. Sam Zell and several of their colleagues voted in the spring to keep his chair empty for a year.

That was a mark of honor for a man that hundreds of us in manufactured housing – especially in the land lease community sector – came to know.

 

Mr. Walker was a sharp man, who could be tough, and had a quick wit. You obviously don’t serve an industry giant in such a key role for so long without bringing a lot of experience and wisdom to the table.

Walker was trusted.

Howard served on the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) Executive Committee as a board member for several years.

Every time we drive into Tampa – dozens of times annually, as we pass Howard Ave near the airport – it serves as a silent reminder to us of the man.

 

Powerful Lesson from a Private Dinner with Howard Walker

Howard invited me to a private dinner for two in Tampa a few years ago, which yielded hours of conversation about the industry.  We naturally also spoke about the Arlington, VA based MHI trade association.

Let’s note that it’s not my intention to reveal anything said by Howard that was shared in strict confidence. But some principles he espoused which where also shared with others will take center stage in what follows.

Specifically, the focus will be a concept which Howard himself shared with others, that he explained that he and ELS believe in.

It is fair to say that Walker felt that others in manufactured housing should also believe in the following principle. Here’s a specific gems that Walker stressed during that dinner.

Tony, as a publicly traded company, ELS believes in transparency, in getting the facts out there.
If there is bad news, we get it out there. If there is good news, get it out there
.”
– Howard Walker.

He then explained to me the wisdom of this approach.

On a different occasion that year, I was communicating with an ELS administrator, who interfaced with Walker and another one of their top people. I conversationally mentioned to her our plan not to put some bad news out on MHProNews that had just hit the mainstream news.

That ELS executive administrator asked me, ‘Why not get it out there for the industry to read and consider?’

Walker and that ELS executive level administrator were both logically correct. Why hide the truth? Both of those ELS team members shared a similar insight.  They were applying a similar principle – related to the value of addressing what’s in the news, and transparency.

 

Clarifying…

For clarity, it’s not that MHProNews ever ignored all bad news about the industry. From early on, the Daily Business News, the Masthead or one of our other modules periodically reported and specifically analyzed problem issues.

But there is sadly so much skewed reporting or problematic terminology about manufactured housing in the mainstream media, that if we reported on every piece of bad news, that could dominate all that MHProNews would do.  We’d never have time to get to the good news on MHProNews or MHLivingNews.  An example of recent useful – mostly good news – is the report linked below.

So, for years, the Daily Business News has strived for balance and accuracy.  Here the industry professional or investor can consider the good, bad or ugly. The news is explored through the lens of informed industry professionals.

As any publisher does, we must curate – carefully select, pick and choose – what topics to cover.  Then, we make the case as to why that curated story is important to the industry, officials, advocates, researchers, and investors.

It’s been a few years since that dinner conversation.  But clearly, Howard Walker’s thoughtful gem on transparency stuck with me.

Howard facilitated our interview responses with Equity Lifestyle Properties (ELS) Chairman Sam Zell.  He insured it would be an accurate reflection of what Mr. Zell said and meant. Those two parts of the Zell interview are linked below.  They are classics.

Why did Walker facilitate that Zell interview? Isn’t that also an example of transparency, and the desire for accuracy?  Isn’t it also a sign of trust?

It is fair to say that Howard was at times miffed – to put it politely – at some of our coverage about MHI, notably in the roughly last 2 years.

But he also overall praised our industry coverage as “thorough and unbiased reporting,” as a number of emails from him – including the one further below for publication – reflects.

The above tees up the following logical question.

How well, by the Howard Walker/ELS standard – has the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) held to the standard of “transparency?”

Flash Back

Let’s flashback to the 2017 MHI meeting in San Antonio.  There, this writer asked several MHI member-builders, as well as other MHI members and staff, about what the association’s position should be on Pam Danner at HUD.  Keep in mind that this was several months prior to her removal as head of the Office of Manufactured Housing Programs, which occurred later in 2017.  MHI staff would not answer that question.  Why not?  But numbers of members where happy to discuss the matter.  More on that linked below, in the related resources.

Not long after that San Antonio meeting, MHI sent our firm a letter removing our firm from their membership.  It was roughly that same time frame, that MHI stopped responding to questions from MHProNews.  After years of membership, their written excuse was that it had ‘come to their attention’ that they had ‘no membership category’ for ‘news media.’ Never mind, that our operation does more than news, or that other MHI members publish too.  If you are going to give an excuse, was their’s an example that any excuse will do?

Now consider that in juxtaposition to Howard Walker encouraging MHI leadership in writing to deepen their relationship with MHProNews.

Howard, let me respectfully suggest that your words – and that stated ELS principle on transparency – are more needed now in MHVille than ever.  The industry is still at historically low levels of performance, as an MHI member-produced graphic below reveals.

  • why during an affordable housing crisis is the manufactured home industry at such a relatively low level of new home production and sales?
  • Why did MHI become so aloof from engagement here?
  • Or why does MHI often fail to engage with mainstream media, when doing so could potentially get to the root issues that hold the industry back from more growth?

Facts can be nettlesome.

Stating the obvious, successful businesses rely on facts.

Most businesses do better when there is economic, legal, and regulatory clarity. For investors and business professionals, certainty – dependability – matters.

Just as the power to tax is the power to destroy, so too regulatory burdens can be a barrier: 

  • for entering business, or
  • for staying in business.

As thousands of businesses in our industry and others painfully learned, destruction is just as real from tough regulations as they are from burdensome taxes.  High taxes are known to drive business from a high tax state to lower one.  High regulations do the same thing. They tend to drive business and investments from higher regulatory states to a lower ones with fewer regulations.

The certainty of that destruction is also what causes business and capital to move from a high tax and regulation nation to other nations where taxes and regulations are lower.

Presidents Obama and Trump have a unique claim they could both make. Each president has their own kind of promise keeping.

Each of their promises have impacted our branch of the housing industry, for good or ill. Those promises did the same for America…

For those who understand nettlesome facts about policies and economics, what would happen under Presidents Obama and Trump were/are entirely predictable.

“More Dangerous…Decisions” – Unlocking the Industry Professional’s Potential Power in 2018

Set aside style. Set aside emotions. Focus on the proven principles.

Business relies on hard facts, not feelings. Business in our factory built home industry – or any other industry- rely on a dependable tax, investment, and regulatory environment.

The President of the United States (POTUS) Barack Hussein Obama promised to fundamentally transform America. He kept that promise. He spoke and wrote about the “audacity of hope.” But the nettlesome facts are that Mr. Obama did so by contradicting numbers of claims he made while campaigning.

Words can inspire, but they also matter as to what the words in fact mean in practice.

Now POTUS Donald John Trump made promises too. One of those campaign promises he made was specifically to minorities. “What the hell do you have to lose anyway?”- Trump asked in stump speeches on the campaign trail in 2016. After decades of what opponents of left-wing politics said was making life demonstrably worse for blacks and Hispanics in America, Trump asked for a chance, and promised to deliver for minorities and all Americans.

The small numbers of blacks and hispanics that combined with white working class “blue collar” workers is what tilted dozens of blue counties, into red ones for Mr. Trump. That’s what delivered Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan from blue to red, and won him the election in 2016.

Principle-based reality matters more than rhetoric.

But one more fundamental difference is that Mr. Trump was candid about who he was, and what he wanted to do.

Mr. Trump never claimed to be a saint. Voters knew what they were getting. Mr. Obama arguably was honest on some things during his campaigns, but not so on others. Who said? Gruber and others, from Mr. Obama’s own team.

You or people you know might love Mr. Obama’s speeches. Millions do, because he’s good at giving them.  The below is the “speech that made Obama President.”

But policies are what drive markets, capital, and business. POTUS Obama spoke well, but so does businessman turned president, Donald J. Trump.

 

It’s another nettlesome fact that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican. He wasn’t for socialism, King was for equality of opportunity, not for ‘redistribution of the wealth,’ that Mr. Obama promised. His policies undermined confidence in investments, business, and thus job creation.  By accident and/or design, the policies failed to deliver prosperity for all but the top 1 percent.

Night and Day. Black and White, But Not Color

It’s not about the identity politics of racial divides, which candidate Obama promised to heal, but which he arguably made worse. Survey after survey showed that race relations worsened under the eight years of Mr. Obama’s tenure in the White House.

Rather, it is about the politics of prosperity which traditional American faith and the principles of the free enterprise freedom and that limited government yields.

The first candidate that this writer contributed to happened to be a black man.  But he wasn’t Barack Obama, who this writer consistently opposed for reasons of policy (it was Alan Keyes, who served under POTUS Ronald Reagan, because Keyes believed among other things in limited government, in regulatory reform, plus ending waste, fraud, and abuse in government).

Mr. Obama’s rhetoric made him famous and popular.

The “audacity of hope” plus “hope and change” were good slogans, but the policies he practiced yielded to despair. Why? Because that is what socialist principles give way to in the end. Look at Cuba, Venezuela, or Red China before they switched to a more market based (but still communist centralized) economy.

Words matter, but proven principles and policies matter more.

Those in whatever walk of life that supported Mr. Obama for reasons of style learned the hard way that his policies were bad for business.

In ironic twists, the nation’s first black president made economic life for blacks and hispanics in America worse. 

Spreading the wealth around” through redistribution via socialistic principles was a guaranteed recipe for economic train wrecks.  Unfettered immigration, due to the law of supply and demand – depresses the wages of the working class of all colors.  But the reverse is true too.  Control immigration, create incentives for business to invest in America, and you’ll watch more jobs get created and more businesses succeed, which creates over time still more jobs – and at higher wages.

So Mr. Obama’s policies doubled the national debt. They harmed businesses, jobs, and workers. Yet Mr. Obama claimed on the campaign trail that Mr. Bush 43’s raising national debt so high was unpatriotic and unAmerican. Mr. Obama was right to call out that Bush error. But the nettlesome facts are that POTUS Obama clearly made deficits and debts far worse.

That too matters for business and investments. Because capital sucked up to support the debt ought to be going to create more business, and thus more and better jobs.

Of course capital, investments, and thus jobs fled overseas.

Of course reversing those poor policies would bring business and jobs back, and “make America great again.”

POTUS Trump’s policies are pro-all-business, while POTUS Obama’s were for arguably more favorable towards big business, and often those crony capitalist donors.

Mr. Obama was honest about some things.

Because based upon his policies, what Mr. Obama gave us as president was Dodd-Frank and ObamaCare. POTUS Obama led Democrats left, and created a tax and regulatory environment that killed thousands of smaller business.  That killed jobs, raised welfare payments, etc.

But those same Obama policies favored big business.

It’s black and white.

It’s about the math of tax and regulations, not race or style.

There are some taxes, some regulations that are needed. How much is debatable, but generally, less is better. So Mr. Obama – and Ms. Clinton, had she been elected – put in place – and she would have kept in place – the big regulatory state and high taxes.

That favored Mr. Buffett’s Big Business Brands. That includes manufactured housing.

So, Mr. Buffett, as a student of history, and economic principles, could generally predict what would happen under both Obama or Clinton. It perfectly suited Mr. Buffett’s “moat” principle.

The Berkshire Hathaway dominated Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) invited not one, but two paid Clinton speakers to be on their stage in Chicago to address their members. The Daily Business News reported that several ties. MHI has never denied the claim.

Mr. Buffett, supported the moat candidates. Buffett’s brands have been accused of taking control over MHI, which does their bidding.  Independent businesses have been forced out, or killed off by heavy regulations.  Doesn’t that fit with the goals of Mr. Buffett’s moat principle to the tee?

The interactive website allows searches of and quotes from different insurance providers, as well as the opportunity to customize the policy and buy on line. There is a blog post and a news section on the website. MHProNews.com has learned IIGI also insures rental, vacant, and vacation rental properties, and is licensed in every state except Hawaii.
