Both residents and operators of manufactured home communities will tell you that, if you’re around long enough, you may see anything.

That was the case this past weekend in the hometown of MHProNews, Lakeland, Florida.

According to The Ledger, a 19-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle while speeding on a state road, and crashed into an unoccupied manufactured home in Lakeland Harbor.

Officials from the Lakeland Fire Department say no one was at home at the time of the incident Sunday morning, and the driver was taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center with minor injuries.

ThiefMaskFaceGraphicStck-DailyBusinessNewsMHProNews420x486News of a theft in Purcell, Oklahoma, indicate arrest warrants are outstanding for a man and woman charged in McClain County District Court with knowingly concealing stolen property.

Tana S. Lang, 41, and Michael G. Slay, 43, are accused of stealing appliances from a model home on the Mid-State Manufactured Housing retail sales center during a June burglary.

A Whirlpool refrigerator, range and dishwasher were taken.

According to the Purcell Register, in October, Detective Sargent Scott Stephens with the Purcell Police Department, received information the pair had committed the burglary and stored the stolen appliances in a barn.

When contacted by police, the property owner confirmed Lang and Slay stored items in one of his barns.

Stephens and Detective Sargent Todd Carpenter received the owner’s permission to search the barn and found the range and dishwasher, according to the affidavit.

Once complete, Stephens obtained a search warrant for Lang’s residence. When he served the warrant, Lang reportedly told the detective the refrigerator was in a storage unit she rented.

Police recovered the refrigerator from the unit.  For the law-abiding, this might seem to be a strange-but-true story.

For those in the manufactured home retail business, they know all-too-well how common this kind of theft can be; it’s catching the thief that’s the good news.
