Investors responded to purported news that the Federal Reserve may reduce its quantitative easing that is pumping $80 billion into the economy each month by backing off, leaving the three major indexes barely moving. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid -0.18 percent, -26.81 points, to close at 15,091.68. The Nasdaq gained +0.06 percent, +2.21 points, to finish at 3,438.79, while the S&P added +0.07 points, to close at 1633.77. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite fell -0.20 percent to close at 1019.20. Nobility Rises to the Throne as the Three Indexes Show Strength

With all three indexes up between 13% and 15% this year, the strengthening dollar compared to the Japanese yen and other currencies led to another positive day on Wall Street. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose +0.24 percent, +35.87 points, to close at 15,118.49. The Nasdaq gained +0.80 percent, +27.41 points, to finish at 3,436.58, while the S&P advanced +0.43 percent, +0.73 points, to close at 1633.70. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite remained unchanged at 1700.1 for the fourth consecutive day. Not much was moving on the U. S. stock market today, although the Dow nearly flirted with 15,150 early this afternoon but settled at 15,082.62, dropping -0.15 percent, -22.5 points. Meanwhile, CNNMoney reports, the Nasdaq slid -0.12 percent, -4.10 points, to finish at 3,409.17, while the S&P lost -0.37 percent, -6.02 points, to close at 1626.67. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite remained unchanged at 1700.1 for the third consecutive day. Better-than-expected corporate earnings and momentum from last week’s positive jobs report propelled U.S. stocks today, pushing the Dow and the S&P 500 to record highs in hump-day trading. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained +0.32 percent, +48.92 points, to end the day at 15,105.12. The Nasdaq gained +0.49 percent, +16.64 points, to finish at 3,413.27, while the S&P gained +0.41 percent, +6.73 points, to close at 1632.69. The Yahoo! The U. S. stock market had a banner day today after the Dow closed above 15,000 for the first time ever and investors drove the S&P 500 to another new high. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained +0.58 percent, +87.31 points, to end the day at 15,056.20. The S&P 500 closed at a record high again today, hitting 1619.7 and then settling back at 1617.50 while the Nasdaq marked its highest level since 2000, attributable to gains made by Bank of America and Apple. S. stocks surged today amid reports that the economy added 165,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate dropped to 7.5 percent, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average at one point over the 15,000 mark, but it settled at 14,973.96, gaining 142.38 points, + 0.96%, as CNNMoney reports. Meanwhile the Nasdaq advanced +1.14 percent, +38.01 points, to close at 3,378.63, while the S&P rose +1.05 percent, +16.83 points to end the day at 1,614.42. The Yahoo! Optimism on Wall Street rose as first time jobless claims fell and the European Central Bank cut its interest rate, driving the S&P 500 to a new record high as the Dow and Nasdaq also registered gains. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up +130.63 points, +0.89 percent, to end the day at 14,831.58. For the past three years it has been a case of “Sell in May and Go Away” in the stock market, and that is how the first of May has begun, with all three indexes down on the day nearly one percent, and manufacturing and retail activity slowing. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped -138.85 points, -0.94 percent, to end the day at 14,700.95. The Nasdaq lost -0.89 percent, -29.66 points, to close at 3,299.13, while the S&P moved down -0.93 percent, -14.87 points to end the day at 1,582.70. The Yahoo!
