Kid Rock’s Unofficial Senate Run, Fighting Fake News and Allegations

He has had a volume of both support and criticism. Kid Rock (KR) had to remind people over the weekend that he has not officially announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat in Michigan.

A watchdog group called Common Cause claim that the country-rock artist has violated election law by not registering his candidacy, and not reporting campaign donations, per the Detroit Free Press.

The activist group has filed complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). They have also written a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions asking him to investigate the matter.

Kid Rock’s reaction to this was what many of his supporters and fans would say was not out of character for the star. In response, KR posted to Facebook, saying:

I am starting to see reports from the misinformed press and the fake news on how I am in violation of breaking campaign law. #1: I have still not officially announced my candidacy. #2: See #1 and go f— yourselves.”

He went on to say, “Everyone else, Have a great Labor Day (I will be spending mine WORKING in one of the greatest cities in America – Grand Rapids, Michigan!!)

Why It Matters to Manufactured Housing Investors and Professionals

The Daily Business News on MHProNews has been reporting on Kid Rock’s potential Senate run since he first teased an upcoming announcement back in July. The candidacy is relevant for several reasons, including the fact that he owns a manufactured home, and tilts pro-Trump.

Image credits are from RK’s official music video, and from the website linked here.

One of two music videos he produced about the time of his announcements has had millions of views on YouTube.  The language in the videos above and below might draw a PG 13 or R rating at the movies. While suggestive, everyone in the video is clothed.

The Developing Candidacy?

Since July, he has become the favorite among Republican candidates. Kid Rock leads potential GOP (Grand Old Party) members by double digits.  One poll placed him around 8 points behind current Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI). But another placed the race much closer, and he hasn’t yet officially announced.

There has been support and criticism of his run, as the links above previously reported.  Prior reports include doubts about the authenticity of the potential run from a friend, Ted Nugent.  That doubt from his friend could prove useful, if the FEC investigates Common Cause’s allegation. If Rock’s own friend isn’t sure, how could Common Cause be correct?

As MHProNews has previously reported – KR has only teased his potential run for a seat in the U.S. Senate. A real announcement, he said in July, would come in about six weeks.

It’s been about that long already.  The closest we’ve come to seeing an announcement amounts to more teasing from the multi-millionaire-manufactured homeowner.

The 2018 Political Revolution is nearing…” Kid Rock tweeted.  Such ‘keep your fans and supporters on edge’ tactics are not uncommon among savvy politicians.  As now President Donald Trump’s candidacy proved, even the negative news attacks could prove useful to KR.

Fact Checks

However, Rock says that none of this amounts to an official announcement of his candidacy in the U.S. Senate race.  Michigan has been a Democratic stronghold for decades.  But with President Trump’s victory, the opportunity for someone like Kid Rock to run and win looms larger, per numerous experts cited in stories linked above.

The other allegations made by Common Cause, were regarding donations. But the Kid Rock for Senate website’s revenue goes directly to a nonprofit created by KR to encourage voter registration.

If AG Sessions, or the Federal Election Commission decides to investigate and finds evidence of the claims made by Common Cause convincing, then Kid Rock could be in for some big fines, per the Daily Mail.  But given that there are clearly reported lines of defense that the super-star has, any such findings – and fines – could prove doubtful.  The fact that clear defenses are evident make the odds of a serious investigation less likely.

There is clear support for the singer.  But until further notice, Kid Rock has confirmed that his run for Senate is still entirely hypothetical. As they say in Hollywood, “That’s entertainment!” Stay tuned for his revolutionary announcement. ## (News, analysis.)

Kid Rock Leads GOP Field for U.S. Senate, Other Poll Results Mixed

August 7th, 2017 Comments off

Kid Rock for Senate website = credit.

Millionaire manufactured home owner Kid Rock put up a website announcing his potential run the U.S. Senate, as the Daily Business News has previously reported.

The star says that there’s been an outpouring of support from both fans and politicos alike.

I was beyond overwhelmed with the response I received from community leaders, D.C. pundits, and blue-collar folks that are just simply tired of the extreme left and right bulls**t,” Kid Rock said in a statement.

The first poll to be taken since the unofficial announcement of Kid Rock’s (KR) place in the 2018 Senate race shows that he’s the favored Republican candidate among voters. KR’s the closest in the polls to current Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), with an 8 percent gap (50-42) between the two.

But another lesser known poll show Kid Rock ahead of his potential Democratic rival.

I think part of Kid Rock’s success is the fact the Trump effect is still out there,” said pollster Ed Sarpolus. “I mean Kid Rock curses and swears like (former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci), so basically Kid Rock is a mini-Trump.”

Diving Into Details

Pollist Ed Sarpolus, Credits Target Insyght

The latest poll was taken by Target Insyght, and included 822 likely Michigan voters and has a margin for error of +/-3.5 percent.

Not only did they discover that Kid Rock was tailing close behind Stabenow, even before making his run official – they also looked at specifically Republican voters to see how the musician fared.

Out of 344 Republicans, 33 percent said they favored the Kid Rock to other republican candidates which include:

  • business man and military veteran John James of Farmington Hills (16 percent),
  • former Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bob Young of Laingsburg (14 percent),
  • and businesswoman Lena Epstein of Bloomfield Hills (8 percent).

This smaller poll has an error rate of +/- 5.35 points.

Rock may have an advantage in the state which favors our 45th president. The same survey found that around 49 percent of Michigan voters thought Trump was doing a “excellent” or “pretty good” job.

Michigan is still a Trump state,” Sarpolus said. “It’s still a very close state, but any candidate on the Democratic side is going to have to face the impact of Donald Trump’s people out there. Will they show up and vote Republican?”

As of right now, this poll is completely speculative, since Rock still hasn’t made his run for Senate official.

However, a recent statement suggested that “in about six weeks,” we will know for with certainty if the musician and video star will formally enter the race.

Is the Competition Taking the Potential Threat Seriously?

Stabenow is not taking any chances.  According to The Hill, her office responded to Rock’s tweets suggesting he may run by promoting a fundraising pitch.

She’ll take this seriously, she’ll raise the money and she’s a fighter,” Sarpolus predicted. “Would I be scared if I was Debbie? Yes, for the fact it means she’s going to have to work harder than expected.”

The poll was funded by MIRS subscription news service, according to The Detroit News, and consisted of both automated phone surveys (79 percent), and live operator conducted surveys (21 percent).

This is one of dozens of examples of news and commentary sites that are spotlighting the looming race between Kid Rock and his potential 2018 Senate campaign rivals. What makes this particularly interesting for manufactured home professionals – and home owners – is his self-evident pride in his own MH, and the lifestyle that it provides him. Fans and Others Promoting Kid Rock’s Prospective Run

The video below is from a website that took Dan Rather’s interview earlier this year with Kid Rock, and edited in at the start a Kid Rock for Senate banner.  The video makes frequent – and favorable – references to Rock’s manufactured home, although he irreverently uses to the “t-word,” or “double-wide” type phrasing.

Potentially, music, news and human interest will all mix for KR – and give him an edge that a normal candidate wouldn’t have.

This far out, it’s almost purely name ID,” Republican consultant John Truscott said. “People know who (Kid Rock) is. He’s quite a personality, and when you’re vote isn’t counting for anything this far out, it’s really easy to support something that’s a little out of the ordinary.” # #

“Game on, MotherF—kers,” Kid Rock’s Non-Profit, Explores Senate Run w/MH Video

July 28th, 2017 2 comments

GameOnMotherF---kersKidRockSenateBidDailyBusinessNewsMHProNewsAre you scared?” – asks, Kid Rock, near the end of his “Greatest Show On Earth” video.

It’s one of the two that the country-rock former rap star has released since floating that he will run for the U.S. Senate in his home state of Michigan.  The star’s second home is a camo multi-sectional manufactured home, see that recent report and video, linked here.

If Kid Rock runs for the U.S. Senate, “he’ll win,” said Tom Shillue, on Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria.

Democrat celebrities “don’t have the pulse of the people,” says Shillue, “but Kid Rock?  I’m mean, He’s America.”

Kid Rock, like President Donald J. Trump, has the advantage of celebrity – opined Shillue.

The currency is celebrity. You need money to get into politics…The celebrities cut out the middle man.”

Kid Rock, who’s real name is Robert James Richie, put up the website after he found out his name was being thrown around for the 2018 run for Senate. What he modestly says he didn’t expect was the support received.

He’d be running against Democratic Senator, Debbie Stabenow.

I was beyond overwhelmed with the response I received from community leaders, D.C. pundits, and blue-collar folks that are just simply tired of the extreme left and right bulls**t,” the singer said.

While some doubt the run is real, others say it’s in-your-face obvious, the same as Kid Rock himself is.

Either way, for now he’s only officially planning to create a non-profit organization that would encourage people to register to vote.

The one thing I’ve seen over and over is that although people are unhappy with the government, too few are even registered to vote or do anything about it. We have over a year left until an actual election, so my first order of business is to get people engaged and registered to vote while continuing to put out my ideas on ways to help working class people in Michigan and America all while still calling out these jackass lawyers who call themselves politicians.”

During this time while exploring my candidacy for U.S. Senate, I am creating a 501©(4)— a nonprofit organization for the promotion of voter registration. Not only can I raise money for this critical cause, but I can help get people registered to vote at my shows,” Kid Rock said in an announcement.

Former New York Governor George Pataki called Kid Rock “exactly the kind of candidate the GOP needs right now.”

Kid Rock backed Romney in 2012. YouTube Video Still.

Senator Elizabeth Warren was also quoted in an interview as stating, “Well, maybe this is all a joke — but we all thought Donald Trump was joking when he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his campaign, too. And sure, maybe this is just a marketing gimmick for a new album or tour — but we all thought Donald Trump was just promoting his reality TV show, too.”

Rock pushed back on Warren’s comments, which may also be a sign of what’s to come for Democrats.

The Daily Business News recently featured Kid Rock’s manufactured homes-image laced other music video, see that report, linked here.

We will be scheduling a press conference in the next 6 weeks or so to address this issue amongst others, and if I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me…it’s game on motherf—kers.” — Kid Rock # #
