The hotel/hospitality sector represents a huge opportunity for growth and greater adoption of modular construction,” said Tom Hardiman, Executive Director of the Modular Building Institute (MBI).

His comment came as a reaction to this video about modular construction, as well as the latest data that he’s reviewed.

In fact,” said Hardiman “in our most recent report, the hotel sector is the fastest growing segment for the commercial modular construction industry.”

It only makes sense when speed to occupancy is a key driver, that developers choose a construction method that is more efficient and predictable,” stated Hardiman.

While factory-built home pros may realize the benefits of modular or other forms of prefabricated building, it is incumbent industry professionals to make sure that others grasp the benefits.

It is for reasons like this – to celebrate the good in factory-based construction, and to act as a check against the misleading or false – that MHProNews and MHLivingNews exist.  It is also arguably why we’re the factory-built home industry’s most trusted and popular resources.

Hardiman recently ripped an error plagued report on modular homes.  See that report, linked below.

Job Growth Keeps Pace with Population Growth

July 5th, 2013 Comments off

While the unemployment rate remained at 7.6 percent, job growth in June hit 195,000, 40,000 more than economists expected and equal to the revised rate for May, 2013. While construction and manufacturing changed little, the biggest gains were in leisure and hospitality (up 75,000), professional and business services (up 53,000) and retail (up 37,000). While noting that three-fourths of the new jobs would qualify as low-quality work, J. J. Kinahan, of TD Ameritrade, says wages grew faster in June than the 12-month average. Economists say this level of job growth just keeps pace with the population level, and pales compared to the 250,000 jobs created monthly during the 1990’s, according to CNNMoney. As MHProNews understands, job growth is key to a healthy housing market.
