February 26th, 2018 Comments off

CNNmoney2.26.2017ManufacturedHomeStocksMarketsReportsMHProNewsYou don’t have to spend a lot of time on regulatory comments, if you still want to get them in tonight by 11:59 PM.  The TMHA’s comments are brief, and one of several examples, linked further below.

Recent research by the Daily Business News reveals that the HUD Comments could be a pathway to opening up 1 to 2 trillion dollars a year in new economic activity; that’s on top of the economic growth that the Trump Administration’s regulatory reforms and tax cuts have sparked.  Those will be tonight’s feature.

If you’re new, already hooked on our new spotlight feature – or are ready to get the MH professional fever – our headline reports are found further below, just beyond the Manufactured Housing Composite Value for today.

The evolving Daily Business News market report sets the manufactured home industry’s stocks in the broader context of the overall markets.

Part of this unique feature provides headlines – from both sides of the left-right media divide – that saves readers time, while underscoring topics that may be moving investors, which in turn move the markets.

Readers say this is also a useful quick-review tool that saves researchers time in getting a handle of the manufactured housing industry, through the lens of publicly-traded stocks connected with the manufactured home industry.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

What the Fed’s minutes reveal is that there are a variety of camps among members of the Federal Reserve (Fed). Some see few signs of wage growth, but others believes wages will pick up with improved job growth, says FOX Business’ Adam Shapiro reports.

Wall Street suffered wild swings Wednesday, ending the day lower, even as the Federal Reserve dampened expectations of an accelerated timetable for interest rate hikes.

The drop in stocks late in Wednesday’s session coincided with a spike in the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield, which hit a new multi-year high of 2.956%. “Yields rise as bond prices fall,” said Fox Business.

In economic data, “U.S. home sales declined 3.2% in January, marking the largest annualized decline in three years. The flash U.S. manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index for February climbed to 55.9 from 55.5, hitting a 40-month high. A reading above 50 indicates economic expansion.”

Unlock innovation, by breaking up these giants, is what NYU Stern professor, Scott Galloway says.

Bloomberg is reporting Galloway argues that Winn Dixie and Bi-Lo could be headed for bankruptcy, just months after Amazon got into the grocery business.

He believes that only anti-trust activity will stop Amazon from further market dominance.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

The indictments of Russian nationals ought to bring much of this investigation, as far as President Trump and his team are concerned, to a conclusion.  Odds are, it won’t.

But what we know now is that ‘no American’s were wittingly involved,’ and that includes the Trump campign team.

But other revelations are coming ouf of today’s market-moving news.

It would be too easy to say that Moscow alone caused anti-Trump rallies post-election, as George Soros backed groups have been directly tied to those activities as well.

Another note of interest is that the CEO of Goldman Sachs, a pro-Clinton supporter, now says that the economy is doing better under POTUS Trump’s vision that it would have under Hillary’s.  As Fox Business reported, “CEO Lloyd Blankfein, a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter, stated that the economy is better off under President Donald Trump.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

It’s about Oxygenating the Market Place Again’

As the Daily Business News has been reporting for over a year (+/-), the issue of monopolies has become part of the background efforts of the new Trump Administration, in its proclaimed objective of reviving the American Dream, and put the interests of American workers, and the American people first.

President Raises the M-Word, “Monopoly,” Plus Manufactured Housing Industry Market Update$

Tech exec and investor Roger McNamee named the same point that MHProNews spotlighted last month as an example of just how powerful the tech giants, have become.

That example which McNamee cited, is linked below.

Buffett, Bezos – Time Announcement to Drop Market Ahead of SOTU? Plus MH Market Update$

  • Tech investor Roger McNamee and NYU Stern School of Business professor Scott Galloway have been arguing for the regulation of big tech.
  • Companies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook now concentrate power and stifle innovation, they say.
  • The two said monopoly concentration is an age-old problem for the U.S.

McNamee told CNBC that,

  • I would like Google to be broken up into eight or 10 different monopolies.”
  • McNamee suggested Amazon be split into three or four companies and Facebook be separated from Instagram.
  • These companies have run unchecked for a very long time,” McNamee said. “The unchecked power produces really bad outcomes.”

While Buffett was not named by the two on CNBC, arguably, the same principles that apply to the tech giants apply to the manufactured housing industry, and the influence of Buffett.

Warren Buffett’s Political Payoff$, THIPS, and Manufactured Housing

Consider the following quotes and points, just some of the takeaways from the video.

  • McNamee and Scott Galloway, a New York University Stern School of Business professor, have long been arguing for the breakup of big tech.
  • Monopolies such as Google, Amazon and Facebook concentrate capital and power and stifle innovation, they say.
  • If one company becomes so powerful, it can deny the mother’s milk of business, which is capital, Galloway told CNBC.New business formation has been halved in the last 40 years. Two-thirds of the stocks have gone away. And it’s harder to build a middle class.”

That’s precisely the point that MHProNews has made time and again, examples linked below.

Duty To Serve, “Complete Waste of Time” per Tim Williams, CEO/21st Mortgage; POTUS Trump, Warren Buffett Insight$

It’s an age-old problem for the United States. Standard Oil and banks formed monopolies long before Silicon Valley — and the federal government ultimately broke them up or restrained their power,” said CNBC, citing their guests in the video.

Lawsuits for Triple Damages – Anti-Trust, Anti-Monopoly Law, Manufactured Housing, and You

The mission of America used to be to create tens of millions of millionaires. If you played by the rules and you saved money, you could become a millionaire,” Galloway said. He added, somewhat lounge in cheek, that “It appears with our policy around letting these guys go unchecked that we’ve decided our new goal as a society is to collectively crown the first trillionaire.”

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

Berkshire Vice Chair Munger on MH Lender, Wells Fargo

(Sources including Reuters) Munger spoke at the annual meeting of Daily Journal Corp, the Los Angeles-based newspaper publisher he chairs, where he also denigrated bitcoin (BTC=BTSP) as “noxious poison,” while urging reforms in the healthcare system.

CNBC broadcast the meeting, which hyped its attention.  Bloomberg and others carried reports on today’s statements by Munger.

Munger, 94, who has for four decades abeen vice chairman at Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRKa.N), which is Wells Fargo’s largest shareholder.

As has been noted previously by the Daily Business News, Wells isn’t as large in home lending as 21st or Vanderbilt (VMF) are in manufactured housing, but it is one of the larger lenders in the industry.  They’ve also done lending on land-lease communities for many years.

Of course, Wells Fargo had incentive systems that were too strong in the wrong direction, and of course they were too slow in reacting properly to bad news,” but “practically everyone” makes those kinds of mistakes, Munger said.

As regular Daily Business News readers know, Munger has made similar statements about Clayton’s alleged errors. See the video interview with Munger, posted on the page linked below.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Mini-Bio, Political Race Card, Economic & Business Opportunities, American Dream, & Manufactured Housing

Wells Fargo will end up better off for having made those mistakes,” Munger said, added. “I think it’s time for regulators to let up on Wells Fargo. They’ve learned.”

Munger expressed concern about rising U.S. government debt, calling it “new territory for us,” though he expressed no alarm about the current economy.  Of course, before 2017, about half of that debt was generated by President Obama’s administration.  Warren Buffett, as industry readers largely know, publicly backed Barack Obama for both of his presidential campaigns.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

Chilton Raises a Cryptic Concern Over the Recent Market Drop

Former Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Bart Chilton said earlier this evening on Fox Business that he suspects ‘shenanigans’ in the recent volatility. That video is not yet available, but he didn’t say much beyond that, saying he’s heard some things that have caused him concerns, perhaps beyond what is said in this video clip.

Readers are reminded that last month Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, and Jaime Dimon put their heads together, and made an announcement that caused about a 300 point drop in the markets – the same day as the president’s State of the Union (SOTU) address. Is it a stretch to ask if those 3 made that announcement, knowing the market drop that would follow?  Again, that preceded the more recent, and far more pronounced volatility.

To be sure, there’s plenty of views as to the why behind the recent drop, including a long awaited normal correction.  But Chilton’s cryptic comment may signal that something else was afoot, and it is worth watching for in the day ahead.

Next…

…the White House press room sent this to the Daily Business News, the outline of the long-awaited infrastructure plan.

The President’s plan to rebuild America
America has long been a Nation of builders, President Trump told the country January 30 in his first State of the Union Address. “We built the Empire State Building in just 1 year—is it not a disgrace that it can now take 10 years just to get a permit approved for a simple road?”

He called on leaders of both parties in Congress to come together to deliver the safe, reliable, and modern infrastructure that Americans deserve. Today, he will outline his legislative principles to accomplish just that:

  • $200 billion in Federal funds to spur at least $1.5 trillion in infrastructure investments with partners at the state, local, tribal, and private level
  • New investments in rural America, which has been left behind for too long
  • Decision-making authority will return to state and local governments
  • Regulatory barriers that needlessly get in the way of infrastructure projects will be removed
  • Permitting for infrastructure projects will be streamlined and shortened
