Markets Reach New Highs, MH Industry Stock UPdates

September 18th, 2017 Comments off

2017-09-19_0620CNNMoneyDailyBusinessNewsMarketReportDue to technical and human factors, this market report was unavoidably delayed.  For the next several days, it will be produced later than normal in the day. Some standard features will not be included in today’s report.

The Daily Business News apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause regular readers of this feature. News requires timeliness and dependability, and that requires the same of every team member.  When a team member fails at that in the news, for whatever reason(s), then timeliness of reporting is unavoidably impacted. When that happens too often, no matter how gifted or nice a team member may appear to be, one must replace such a team member.

Moving on.

North Korean rocket launches. Two major hurricanes. Congress has not yet passed a repeal and replacement of ObamaCare. Dozens of such points could be made,. In spite of all that, the markets reached new highs on Monday. This, say several analysis, is a reflection of the confidence that the nation is still moving in an overall good direction.  Credits, MHProNews/Pixabay.

Seeking Alpha’s Post-Irma Report on Manufactured Home REITs with Florida Properties

Two of the largest manufactured home community operators, as Daily Business News regulars know, are the Sun Communities (SUI), and Equity Lifestyle Properties (ELS).  The following bullet’s are from Seeking Alpha (SA).

Manufactured housing operators await access to assess Irma damage

SeekingAlphaMarketNewsManufacturedHousingIndustryDailyBusinessNewsMHProNewsSep. 13, 2017: Stephen Alpher, Seeking Alpha News Editor

Both Sun Communities (NYSE:SUI) and Equity Lifestyle Properties (NYSE:ELS) say most of their properties appear to have sustained minimal damage in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

But that doesn’t account for the Keys, were Sun owns five properties and Equity Lifestyle owns two. Neither company has been able to access those areas to check them out.

Time, for the moment, is on their side. The peak season for both is the winter, so as long as they can get things cleaned up ahead of that, the impact on the bottom line looks to be slight. “It was a strong summer vacation season. I don’t think the hurricane derails that,” says Baird’s Drew Babin.”

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report – Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Impacts Mortgage Delinquencies

HowStormsHarveyIrmaImpactMortgageDelinquenciesBlackKnightLogo

CNBC’s Diane Olick reports that Dark Knight Financial Services is reporting their initial estimates on the impact of Hurricane Harvey on mortgage delinquencies.

Per Dark Knight, they project “300,000 borrowers could become delinquent on their loans…”

That’s four times the original prediction.

·        As many as 300,000 borrowers could become delinquent on their loans after Hurricane Harvey, Black Knight Financial Services says.

·        That is four times the original prediction because new disaster zones were designated and more homes flooded.

·        There are 2.08 million mortgaged properties in Irma-related FEMA disaster areas, more than four times that of Katrina and twice as many as Harvey. Total unpaid mortgage balances for Irma areas are $370 billion.

·        Lenders have better systems in place to deal with delinquent loans, and they are more likely to offer borrowers, even seriously delinquent borrowers, options to catch up.

CNBC says:

CNBC says: “Heritage Insurance expects an estimated loss of about $200 million to $300 million in Florida thanks to Hurricane Irma, a far cry from the expected billion-dollar price tag had the storm gone in another direction, the company’s CEO told CNBC on Monday.

CNBCLogoDailyBusinessNewsMHproNews“Had this even gone from Miami-Dade County in southeast Florida up the east coast, it was probably a billion plus for Heritage. That’s where the high concentrated policy counts are, where the population lives,” Bruce Lucas said in an interview with “Closing Bell.”

“So when Irma took a turn to the west and went up the west side of the coast, you could hear a sigh of relief in the Florida market.”

On Monday, insurance companies rallied after initial reports from Florida revealed less damage than expected. Heritage Insurance led the way, soaring over 21 percent.

Shares of home insurers tied to the Florida market plunged last week as investors feared historic damage from Irma. The Category 5 storm tore through the Caribbean and made landfall in the Florida Keys as a Category 4 storm Sunday morning.

Irma, now downgraded to a tropical storm, ripped roofs off homes and caused flooding and power outages across the state.”

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

Deer Valley HomeBuilders hits new high

DeerValleyHomebuildersDVLYSpotlightManufacturedModularHomeStockMarketReportsDataResearchDailyBusinessNewsMHProNews

http://www.MHProNews.com/blogs/daily-business-news/deer-valley-nobility-skyline-lead-mixed-mh-markets-new-claytonvmf-report-to-break/

As we’ve previously reported, Deer Valley Homebuilders is an over-the-counter (OTC) stock which is typically only traded from time to time.

Reports coming from the company to MHProNews have been positive.

GoogleNews9072017DeerValleyHomebuildersDailyBusinessNewsManufacturedHousingIndustryStockMarketReportsDVLYMHProNews

Mainstream media reports have been sporadic, as the screen capture above from this evening demonstrates.

hetMurphreeDeerValleyHomebuildersJamesMcGeeDeerValleyHomebuildersLATonyKovachInsideMH

Chet Murphree, Deer Valley Homebuilders. James McGee. Deer Valley Homebuilders, L.A. ‘Tony’ Kovach, Inside MH.

What sources have told us is when the Daily Business News on MHProNews has spotlight their firm, the attention has routinely served them – and investors – well.

BloombergDeerValleyHomebuildersMarketWatchDailyBusinessNewsManufacturedModularHomeIndustryStocksMarketsDataReportsMHProNews600

Some fast facts to consider.

  • Post-Harvey, our industry sources (not counting Deer Valley) have told us that orders are surging, as would be expected.
  • With Hurricane Irma coming up rapidly, and projections are that Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas could all be impacted.
  • Other sources, plus market voices, tell us that building materials will be rising, but that will be true for site builders and factory builders alike. That should be relatively even.
  • As DVLY told us, they are part of a buyers group that helps keep their material pricing more competitive.

Having laid eyes on the product many times, worked with retailers and consumers that know the DVLY product, this is a firm well worth investigating.

We have no stock in the firm, nor any other industry firm.  As with any investment, do your homework. Our commentary should be taken with those disclosures in mind.

Please watch the video below, as it closes with a nice clip from Chet Murphree and James McGee at Deer Valley.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

With Storms, Prices Rise – LPX Spotlight.

As another upcoming industry report will reveal, prices on building material are expected to spike as a result of Hurrican Harvey – and soon – Irma. No surprise that industry suppliers watched their stocks rise.  Among those risers, LPX.

LPXCreditZBuildingProductsMHProNewsLogoDailyBusinessNewsMarketReport962017

LPX image credits are as shown above.

Per the Louisiana Pacific investor relations page, “Based in Nashville, Tennessee.”

Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, engages in manufacturing and distributing building products for new home construction, repair and remodeling, manufactured housing, and light industrial and commercial construction.”

Ticker: LPX

Exchange: NYSE

Per a report today from Clayton News:

ClaytonNewsReviewLouisiana-Pacific Corp (LPX) Needle Moving on Volume

Shares of Louisiana-Pacific Corp (LPX) are moving on volatility today 1.23% or $0.315 from the open. The NYSE listed company saw a recent bid of $25.955 and 1195953 shares have traded hands in the session.

There are many factors that can affect the health of a certain company. Because of this, it can be extremely difficult to find one single strategy that will prove successful in the stock market. Investors are able to study all the different data, but figuring out the relevant information can be a struggle. There is plenty of company information that can easily be measured such as revenue and profits. There are also elements that aren’t as easily computed such as reputation and competitive advantage. Finding a way to gather all the information and craft a strategy that incorporates all aspects of a company may be a challenge for investors. Because there is a highly inherent human element to picking stocks, price action may not follow expectations. Human emotion can reverse course rapidly over a short period of time. Investors need to always be prepared for market uncertainty while attempting to keep emotions in check.

Deep diving into the technical levels for Louisiana-Pacific Corp (LPX), we note that the equity currently has a 14-day Commodity Channel Index (CCI) of 134.94. Active investors may choose to use this technical indicator as a stock evaluation tool. Used as a coincident indicator, the CCI reading above +100 would reflect strong price action which may signal an uptrend. On the flip side, a reading below -100 may signal a downtrend reflecting weak price action. Using the CCI as a leading indicator, technical analysts may use a +100 reading as an overbought signal and a -100 reading as an oversold indicator, suggesting a trend reversal.

Louisiana-Pacific Corp’s Williams Percent Range or 14 day Williams %R currently sits at -10.76. The Williams %R oscillates in a range from 0 to -100. A reading between 0 and -20 would point to an overbought situation. A reading from -80 to -100 would signal an oversold situation. The Williams %R was developed by Larry Williams. This is a momentum indicator that is the inverse of the Fast Stochastic Oscillator.

Currently, the 14-day ADX for Louisiana-Pacific Corp (LPX) is sitting at 21.67. Generally speaking, an ADX value from 0-25 would indicate an absent or weak trend. A value of 25-50 would support a strong trend. A value of 50-75 would identify a very strong trend, and a value of 75-100 would lead to an extremely strong trend. ADX is used to gauge trend strength but not trend direction. Traders often add the Plus Directional Indicator (+DI) and Minus Directional Indicator (-DI) to identify the direction of a trend.

The RSI, or Relative Strength Index, is a widely used technical momentum indicator that compares price movement over time. The RSI was created by J. Welles Wilder who was striving to measure whether or not a stock was overbought or oversold. The RSI may be useful for spotting abnormal price activity and volatility. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. A reading over 70 would indicate that the stock is overbought, and possibly overvalued. A reading under 30 may indicate that the stock is oversold, and possibly undervalued. After a recent check, the 14-day RSI for Louisiana-Pacific Corp (LPX) is currently at 66.77, the 7-day stands at 75.90, and the 3-day is sitting at 80.85.”
