Canadian Component Manufacturer Goes West

April 11th, 2012 Comments off has learned from Calgary, Alberta, Canada Okaply Industries has opened a new factory in Calgary. Based in Oka, Quebec, just north of Montreal, Okaply manufactures pre-finished gypsum, MDF, plywood, particleboard, shelving and moulding for the manufactured and modular housing industries. The company services clients in Canada, parts of the U.S., Chile, Argentina, and Peru. In business for 46 years, HoustonChronicle says the company also purchased robotic feeds for their lamination production lines in Okla and in Calgary. Company president Craig Starke says, “We are one of the companies in the supply chain that is benefiting from the rise in commodity prices for raw materials such as oil, and precious metals. Setting up shop in Calgary is part of our plan to be closer to our customers and grow our business.”

Patrick Acquires Décor

According to InsideIndianaBusiness, MH component manufacturer Patrick Industries, Inc. of Elkhart, Indiana has acquired Décor Mfg LLC for $4.4 million. Todd Cleveland, president and CEO of Patrick, says of the Tualatin, Oregon company: “The Oregon market is significant in terms of RV market potential as it relates to overall Northwestern United States RV production levels, and we estimate it to be the second largest RV producing geographic sector outside of the Midwest.” Patrick funded the acquisition by issuing 100,000 shares of common stock and tapping into their revolving line of credit. Décor, which will retain its name, makes high pressure laminate and wrapping for the northwestern U.S. RV market, and expects revenues for 2012 of $17 million. Patrick operates a laminate production and distribution facility in nearby Woodburn, OR providing counter-tops and wrapped products to the manufactured housing and RV markets. has learned Patrick’s other products include cabinetry, decorative vinyl moldings and panels, interior passage doors, and slotwall components, in addition to other building products with locations in 12 states. Patrick Ind. stock gained 1.24 percent in today’s trading.

Employees of MH Component Manufacturer Help the Needy

GoshenNews reports from Goshen, Indiana, that employees of Lippert Components, Inc., donated gifts valued at more than $5,000 to members of the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen who otherwise would not have a Christmas. Food was provided to many families during the holidays, and 175 gift bags were distributed to elementary school-aged children. Jason Lippert, chairman and CEO of Lippert is a long-time board member of the Boys and Girls club of Goshen, and currently serves as board chairman. He says, “At Lippert we feel a deep responsibility to help our community’s families and moreover, our community’s children. The health of our families and our children are our future.” Andy Purviance, director of the Boys & Girls Club of Goshen, says, “It has been truly heartwarming to see the generosity toward our families in need. Patrick Industries Acquires Graphics Company

SacBee reports MH and RV component manufacturer and distributor Patrick Industries, Inc., has finalized its acquisition of Elkhart, Indiana-based Performance Graphics, a designer, producer, and installer of exterior graphics for the RV, marine, enclosed trailer, and racing industries. Todd Cleveland, President and CEO of Patrick, said, “The acquisition of Performance Graphics, along with the recent acquisitions of the Praxis Group and A.I.A. Countertops, LLC, will allow the Company to further expand its penetration into the RV and industrial market sectors and increase its market share and per unit content.” Through its facilities in 12 states, Patrick manufactures decorative vinyl and paper panels, countertops, wrapped profile mouldings, cabinet doors and components, interior passage doors, and slotwall components. Patrick Industries (NASDAQ: PATK) gained 3.11 percent in today’s trading.

Drew Industries Registers Gains Quarter Over Quarter

American Market & Business News reports Drew Industries, manufacturer of components for the manufactured housing and RV Industries, announced their quarterly revenue gained 15.80 percent for the first quarter 2011 over the same period 2010.  The company said earnings for 2010 were .30 cents per share, as opposed to .42 cents per share for first quarter 2011.  For the year ending December 31, 2009, the RV division accounted for 79 percent of net sales and the MH division for 21 percent.  As of the same date, Drew had 24 manufacturing operations in 12 states.

Drew Industries to Announce First Quarter Results

According to PRNewswire, Drew Industries (NYSE:DR) will release its first quarter financials May 2, 2011, before the stock market opens.  At 11:00 AM ET that morning, this manufacturer of doors, windows, chassis, and bath and shower components for the manufactured housing industry will host a conference call to discuss the numbers.  Participation will be limited to institutional investors and analysts, although individual investors, brokers and the media will be able to listen in live to the webcast.  Drew operates 26 factories in the United Sates.
