To stem the tide of fake news, several things are useful or necessary. As the article linked here quoted, “facts are stubborn things.”

Part of the solution to fake news is authentic, factual, evidence-based reports and analysis. When over half the country lists ‘fake news’ as one of the most important problems facing America, that is both crisis as well as an opportunity in disguise.

The phrase “enquiring minds want to know” long predates a tabloid that turned that into a tag line. Whatever their intent, the phrase is a compelling and true statement.

From the first day since we launched this professional site which is now called MHProNews, it has had a simple goal in mind. To help fuel the manufactured housing industry with the insights and resources needed to reach the industry’s true, sustainable, and honorable potential. We believed from the start in mutual victories. Good businesses benefit the home seeking public. Buyer and seller alike ought to benefit from every transaction. Win-win-win must successfully overcome the sources of the win-lose mentality.

There will be a series of special reports here on MHProNews and on our sister site, MHLivingNews this weekend and the days ahead. Stay tuned.

Until then, let’s celebrate the 43rd anniversary of HUD Code manufactured homes by recommitting ourselves as professionals to earning an honest profit. Earn as much profit as you honestly and ethically can or want. But separate yourself from black hat operations that earn profits in devious, illegal, or demonstrably underhanded ways.

The vast majority of the home seeking public doesn’t worry about our HUD Code manufactured home industry’s politics.  In order to understand why the industry is underperforming, one must carefully consider what the public thinks or sees, not just what professionals think, say, or do.

Public perception isn’t the only hang-up, as the related reports below the byline and notices makes clear.

Facts are stubborn things. But leaders grasp nettles. Nettles sting when not handled correctly, but also have medicinal qualities when properly used. You don’t cure a problem by ignore its root causes.

The good news of manufactured housing can break through the noise. How is that accomplished?  In part by using real news, clear analysis, common-sense and evidence-based commentary that must clearly debunk and/or replace fake news.

Manufactured Housing Professionals, HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Must Promote These Two Words

That can begin with the two words hinted at in the headline in the post above. But that article doesn’t just hint at those two words, it makes the case with brevity and clarity. For more, see the related reports, below.

There’s always more at MHProNews, as the related reports will reveal.  Happy 43rd birthday to HUD Code manufactured housing, our home owners, and professionals.  Note that the first link in the related reports is to an industry veteran who has lived through the trailer house, mobile home, manufactured home evolution.  It is about 8 minutes of must-viewing for anyone who truly wants to understand this industry.

Clayton Homes, one of the nation’s largest builders of manufactured housing and a subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (BRK/A), is celebrating.

I’m so proud to continue the tradition my father, Jim Clayton, started – making the dream of homeownership a reality,” said CEO Kevin Clayton.

Over the past 60 years, we’ve welcomed families home to well-built, affordable, sustainable housing with smart storage, thoughtful amenities and room to grow.”

In honor of the occasion, the company has designed The Clayton Built Anniversary Home, a three bedroom, two-bathroom model with 1,216 square feet of space.

The home is available with the Energy Smart upgrade that includes Low-E windows, a programmable thermostat and several other energy efficiency features.

Vertically integrated, Clayton Homes has several hundred retail centers nationwide. Through its affiliates and family of brands, Clayton builds, sells, finances, leases and insures Clayton-built manufactured and modular homes. The operation also buys products and uses services from other producers.

John Adams on the Fourth of July

July 4th, 2014 Comments off

happy-birthday-america-4th-of-july-fireworks-credit-wikicommons-posted-masthead-blog-mhpronews-com-John Adams was the second U.S. President, and writing to his wife Abigail about the Fourth (4th) of July, said: “I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival.” “It ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other…”

Adams’ words proved prophetic, we indeed celebrate Independence Day every year in just such a fashion.

In England in those days, it was seen as an act of treason to sign the Declaration of Independence. A number of those 56 signers who placed their “John Hancock” on the document did more than say they pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor to the cause of liberty. Some indeed died or lost everything in the 7 year long war successfully waged for American independence, which followed that first 4th.

The founders understood that government didn’t create rights – those rights were inalienable and God-given – and that the proper role of government was to protect and safeguard our rights.

One may speculate as to what the founders might make of America today, but what is certain is that freedom is worth the struggle. It falls to each generation to understand who we are, what our rich heritage is and what must be done in our own times to protect true liberty.

Happy 4th of July from the MHProNews team to you, your friends and loved ones. ##

Urgent Tips for Manufactured Housing Professionals in Isaac’s Path

August 27th, 2012 Comments off

Tropical Storm Isaac entered the Gulf of Mexico early Monday staying on a northwesterly track away from the Florida peninsula, but eerily similar to Katrina’s in 2005. According to the National Hurricane Center Isaac is expected to be a hurricane in a day or so before it hits land fall. Despite being much weaker than the devastating storm seven years ago, thousands along the Gulf Coast in states such as Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana are following evacuation plans developed in the wake of Katrina, whose seventh anniversary coincides with Isaac’s arrival. To minimize your loss as retailers, businesses, communities and residents of manufactured homes, Kurt D. Kelley, loss mitigation expert, attorney, and President of Mobile Insurance offers ten tips for those in Isaac’s path: 1) single section homes not lot set should have the air let out of the tires; 2) homes should be moved closer to wind breaks if possible, but away from large trees; 3) Unsecured property should be moved inside or secured. Dead or untrimmed trees should be trimmed/removed. For the remainder of the tips, please click here.
