Stop-work Order Leads to Uncertain Future of Factory-built Home

Ethiopian_Stop_Sign.svg wikipediaEight months after issuing a stop-work order on what was said to be a modular home due to an ordinance violation in the Ward Ridge area of Port St. Joe, Fla., the order remains in effect and the home sits unoccupied, on wheels, and falling over.

Owned by Robert Mike, the home was approved by the city’s building department last year, but neighbors complained when it was sited that it was a “mobile home” that would ruin property values. A majority of city commissioners agreed, according to what starfl tells MHProNews.

Wanting to move the home, a plan suggested by Tom Trexler of Nobility Homes would involve relocating the home after paying Mike’s $30,744O first home loan, and $9,000 for fill dirt on the site the home is being moved from. Other expenses to the city, adding up to $60,000, would include preparing a site for and moving the home, and doing repairs.

It is unknown whether the city would own the lot once the house is moved. The issue will be re-examined at the next meeting of the city commissioners. ##
