Starbucks set to Open Sixth Modular Storefront

The Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago is the newest recipient of Starbucks’ modular drive-thru/walk-up coffee shop made of shipping containers, the sixth in the country for the 19,000 location chain. The units take about four people and two to three hours to unload  and site them on the foundation. As MHProNews reported here Oct. 11, 2012, Starbucks installed a modular shipping container outlet covered with Wyoming snow fencing in Denver. The 700 square foot store in Chicago, set to open by the end of September, 2013, is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, indicating its design, construction, operation and maintenance meets specific “green” building standards. According to chicagotribune.com, Starbucks introduced the modular container stores in Seattle in 2011.
