S&P Flies High, Sky Rises, Quarter Concludes

While the last day of the first quarter’s trading ended on a relatively quiet note, the S&P index nudged to a record high, 1569.19, about four points higher than its previous record set in Oct. of 2007. In addition, the Dow, besides setting a new record, is up eleven percent on the quarter. The S&P is up ten percent and the Nasdaq eight percent on the year. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up +0.36 percent, +52.38 points, to close at 14,578.54. The Nasdaq gained +0.34 percent, +11.00 points, to close at 3,267.52, while the S&P gained 0.41 percent, +6.34 points, to end the day at 1,569.19. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite gained +2.39 percent to close at 1656.5. Housing stocks we track closed mixed or even with Skyline Corp. gaining the most of tracked stocks, moving up +8.74 percent, +0.48 points, to end today’s session at 5.97. Patrick Industries, Inc. fell the most of stocks we follow, nudging down -0.89 percent, -0.12, to end the day at 15.76 Affiliated Managers Group 1513.57 +2.24 (+1.48%). Cavco Industries 47.57 -0.05 (-0.10%). Clayton Homes, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, as well as MH home-building, lending and other housing suppliers parent company Berkshire Hathaway 156,350 +1,720.00 (+1.11%). Champion, Liberty Homes, Deer Valley and Palm Harbor continued unchanged. Drew Industries 36.31 -0.32 (-0.87%). Equity LifeStyle Properties 76.80 +1.18 (+1.56%). Louisiana Pacific Industries 21.60 +0.14 (+0.65%). Nobility Homes 5.43 -0.01 (-0.18%). Patrick Industries, Inc. 15.76 -0.12 (-0.89%). Sun Communities, Inc. 49.33 +0.38 (+0.78%).
