Shoreline Modular Home set on Ten-Foot Pilings

Conn_modular_shoreline_home--Tim_Martin__the_day__com__creditFollowing damage from Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 and Superstorm Sandy in 2012, Peter and Lorraine Grader decided to replace their 74 year-old house in Groton, Connecticut with a modular home set on 10-foot pilings, out of the flood zone and constructed to better withstand severe storms. According to theday.com, the four modules that comprise their new home should be ready for occupancy by the end of August. While they did not sign up for the state’s “ShoreUpCT” loan program for owners of shoreline properties announced by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, MHProNews has learned they are suggesting that others may take advantage of the program and adapt to the realities of climate change. ##
