Fox News and most mainstream media sources are urging caution to professionals and others answering cell phones and landlines from incoming calls from an “unknown caller” or a phone number you may not recognize.

The scam, as the two news videos below reveal, works like this.

The caller will ask you very early in the call words to the effect, ‘Can you hear me okay?’

Their goal?  To get you to say, “yes,” which they will record and then use that recorded “yes’ in your voice to authorize charges to accounts you have not actually agreed to.  The two short videos on this page will help you spot and avoid these potentially costly scammers.

MHProNews will continue to monitor and report on the variety of scams that could impact industry professionals, as well as home owners. ##
