Pine Ridge Indian Reservation getting Manufactured Homes

pine_ridge_indian_rez__mh_arriving_Oct_12The first two manufactured homes (MH) have arrived at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota as a staging area for these and more MH that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is bringing in from storage in Cumberland, MD and Selma, AL to house flood victims on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

As told to MHProNews by af.mil, “FEMA will be storing the housing units on a vast concrete area once used as an alert parking apron for numerous B-52 (Stratofortress) bombers during the Cold War when that mission existed on base,” said Dana Powell, the 28th Bomb Wing plans and programs chief. “The area is no longer utilized for that, so it is the perfect location to store the units before they are transported to their final destination.

The homes are set to continue arriving through the fall, but will not interfere with the mission or daily affairs of the air base. Ellsworth has worked with FEMA on several occasions of flooding and severe winter storm. ##
