PA Town Siting Modular Homes in New Subdivision

Borough Council along with the Freeland Business and Development Authority voted in favor of a redevelopment project on Ridge St., which will involve demolishing three blighted properties and placing two $100,000 modular homes on the property.

Town Solicitor Donald Karpowich, noting the desire to expand the tax base and increase the number of residents in the borough, said, “Along with the business development authority, we’re hoping to create a subdivision and repurpose these lots into new construction for residents to move into and enjoy.”

If the subdivision plan generates enough interest, the authority intends to expand the idea to replace other blighted properties in Freeland, as stgandardspeaker informs MHProNews.

Karpowich added, “We don’t care about making a profit. The larger the tax base, the more positive things we can do for the community. We hope that if it takes off, we can do this to help revitalize the town and increase property values throughout.”

Freeland is located just southwest of Scranton. ##
