Opposition to Australian MH Development Grows

As follow-up to a story we published yesterday, July 25, concerning the development of 251 manufactured homes in Halekulani, near the southeast coast of Australia, express-advocate-wyong reports opposition is increasing as nearby residents rallied outside the site Wednesday. As owners of the property, the Darkinjung Aboriginal Land Council wants to develop the sites on Lake Munmorah north of Sydney with homes ranging from $70,000 to $200,000 to provide affordable housing for the area. Opponents say the development will upset the balance of flora and fauna in the area and destroy the scenic beauty. Another criticism is that the roads are barely adequate to support current traffic, and the local public school is near capacity. MHProNews has learned manufactured housing communities are already established to the north and south of the proposed development. The WYONG Council has agreed to extend the time for public discourse to Aug. 27.
