New Hampshire House “Drowns” Sprinklers in MH
The Boston Globe reports the Associated Press says, following the same action in the state senate last month, the New Hampshire House of Representatives passed a bill that prevents local communities from regulating sprinklers. Gov. John Lynch had vetoed the bill, but the House overrode his veto 266-61. The legislation blocks local jurisdictions from mandating the use of sprinklers in one and two-family homes, as well as in manufactured housing. Lynch says the bill removes local control and restricts fire suppression options. Supporters say sprinkler systems add thousands of dollars to costs and hamper job growth.
