Modular to House Migrant Workers

The salemnews reports from Peabody, Mass. the bunkhouse used by migrant workers who pick apples at a city-owned orchard is in such bad shape from normal wear and tear over the years the city may replace it with modular housing. Some of the same Jamaican fruit pickers have been coming since the program started 23 years ago but a state labor inspector said the building needs major repairs. Although it is not an expense the city wanted, Peabody makes enough from the farm to justify replacing the housing with a modular facility. MHProNews understands the farm employs migrant workers because local workers are not able and willing to do the job.
