A British Columbia, Canada modular company is converting shipping containers into workforce housing for liquified natural gas (lng) workers in far northern BC near the Alaska line. The thousands of workers expected for the developing lng industry will be welcomed with flat screen TVs, computer workstations, floor-to-ceiling windows, air conditioning and stainless appliances. BigSteelBox of Kelowna, BC tells MHProNews.com each unit will cost $120,000, and the 40-foot steel boxes are more durable and stronger than stick built housing. The huffingtonpost.ca reports the industry could create up to 100,000 jobs by 2020 when three lng plants will be in operation. ##
