Modular Homes Rising in Indianapolis

Just north and a little east of downtown Indianapolis five modular homes are set to be built in the Cottage Home area on a stretch of land surrounded by small, older homes from the late 1800’s. Priced at $300,000 to $350,000, the first two homes (already sold) will be 1,800 square feet; the next three will be 1,500 to 1,800 square feet, and similar in design. In an exclusive interview with MHProNews, Ursula David, president of Indy Mod Homes, has been a builder for 30 years in Indianapolis, 20 of those on her own, but says this is her first foray into modular homes. Designed by Axis Architects of Indianapolis, which is known for contemporary and energy efficient designs in corporate, civic and residential applications, the homes are being manufactured by Hi-Tech Housing, Inc. of Bristol, Ind. Asked if she will rent the land to the home owners, she replied,“I own the land, but when they sign a contract to purchase the home, they buy the land as well.” Future plans call for four more modular homes a few blocks away.
