Modular Homes Initiative Receives more Support

Updating a story MHProNews last published June 9, 2014 about an affordable modular housing initiative in Bluffton, South Carolina, wsavtv.com reports the city tripled the amount budgeted to $150,000 to conduct home-owning classes and money-saving tips of homeownership, and waive some of the permit fees. Applicants for the 22 modular homes will have to meet income requirements, and be responsible for 60 percent of the expenses. Fred Hamilton, Chairman of the Affordable Housing Initiative, tells MHProNews there were 70 applicants for the six modular homes built for the Wharf Street Redevelopment Project, as we reported here Dec. 19, 2011, so he is certain there will be takers for these homes. The goal is to provide affordable homes in order to maintain a viable workforce in town. ##
