uk_manchester_modulars__placenorthwest_co_ukUpdating a story MHProNews last posted Jan. 18, 2016 concerning Urban Splash’ 43 affordable modular homes in New Islington, Manchester, England, all 43 of its hoUSe project have been completed and sold, according to what placenorthwest.co.uk tells MHProNews.

Designed by architect shedkm, this is the first phase in Manchester of what Urban Splash hopes will be a series of homes to help alleviate the housing crunch. Funded by the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund, Urban Splash already has permission for 71 more modular homes in the city.

Made of volumetric timber modules, the layouts can be configured to have one to five bedrooms with an open floor plan or traditional styling.

Ian Killick, director at shedkm, said: “This concept has been a long time in the making and we believe that it is a game-changer to tackle the current housing shortage this country is facing. They also happen to be homes that people are proud to live in.”

Tom Bloxham, chairman of Urban Splash, said: “HoUSe is born from our desire to create something for customers who want to live in well-designed homes and stay in the city centre.” ##
