Modular Development Can Now Proceed

The AtikokanProgress reports to MHProNews.com from just north of Duluth, Minnesota, in Canada, the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) dismissed a homeowner’s appeal of a bylaw that would have restricted placement of modular homes. The town had approved the amendment requested by owners of a former MHC who want to build upscale modular homes on the property. OMB Chair Joseph Sniezek handed down his decision saying modular housing, which is allowed in 90 percent of the town, conformed to the province’s northern growth plan, the town’s official plan, as well as with the provincial policy statement. The land owners insist the development would be modern, attractive homes that will complement the existing houses.
