new_jersey_modular_for_med_students_devin_r_wexler_north_jersey__creditCalling it the tallest modular wood structure in the country, Professional Building Systems, Inc. two weeks ago began stacking the 42 apartments that will serve as affordable housing for students of New York Medical College in Paterson, New Jersey. Standing 60 feet and six inches tall, the building will provide short-term lodging for students who are in training at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

The facility includes studio and one-bedroom apartments, as northjersey informs MHProNews. The building will provide our students with safe, affordable housing and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the community surrounding the hospital,” said Dr. Alan Kadish, President of Touro College and University Systems and New York Medical College.

Tony Danza, the chief executive officer of the development company, said the new modular dormitory is being built “in a fraction of the time needed for other construction techniques.

Paterson Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres expressed excitement about the new dorms. “I believe that at some point you might see something similar happening in our downtown with young people at PCCC (Passaic County Community College),” the mayor said. ##
