Mobile Alabama Sites Two Affordable Modular Homes

mobile__alabama__modular__wsfa_tv_credit__built_by_cityAs part of Mobile, Alabama’s Neighborhood Renewal Program, the city sited two new modular homes on property it owns and will sell the homes to a non-profit that will then offer the homes to low income families, as WSFA-TV informs MHProNews.

Each home is 750 square feet with two bedrooms and a bath, and built to withstand 150 MPH winds from a hurricane or other natural disaster. The city’s Community Housing and Development Department purchased the homes using HOME Investment partnership dollars after the city received clear title to the property in December of last year.

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson says, “These new homes are a prime example of how we are taking back our neighborhoods. It’s the answer to many of the challenges we are facing including blight, housing and crime. You can expect more transformations like this in the months to come.” ##
