MH Retailer Fairfield Homes and Land High Standards attract local media attention

fairfield_homes_interior_freestonecountytimesonline__creditNoting that HUD Code manufactured homes can withstand winds up to 120 MPH, and that it’s the add-ons, typically a carport or porch, that may present a danger during windstorms, Victor Frost of Fairfield Homes and Land gives this analogy: “It is like opening a pop top can where you have pulled on the tab to get the entire top to come up. Add-ons, attached to the home, are the tab that ‘picks up’ the entire roof and rips it off.

In a presentation made to a local newspaper, the freestonecountytimesonline, Frost said if the home is moved and the add-ons remain in place then the add-ons should not pose a threat in severe weather. The materials used in construction of manufactured homes are the same as those in site-built homes, but they are constructed in an enclosed production center out of the elements of weather. They are comparable to or exceed federal standards, a point echoed by a prior federal HUD Code MH Program Adminstrator, Bill Matchner, JD, in the exclusive video interview linked here.

Frost says the phrase “mobile home” became obsolete for homes built since June 15, 1976 when construction standards were set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and have been updated periodically as technology has improved.

Fairfield Homes, Owned by Dwayne Somerville is in Fairfield, Texas. The statement on their website, fairfield.us, says it all: “We have a simple philosophy, supply quality built homes at great prices, offer our services with a smile and a hand shake, and help you find the home of your dreams.” ##
