StopTheAbuseSayMHIndustryProfessionalsPamDannerJDHUDManufacturedHousingProgramDailyBusinessNewsMHProNewsThe current HUD manufactured housing program administrator, Pamela Danner – “parachuted” into that position on a career basis in violation of section 620(a)(1)(C) of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000,” says Mark Weiss, JD.

Addressing state associations and other interested industry parties, Weiss, President and CEO of the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform listed over 2 dozens abuses and failures to act.

These, the industry veteran says, are costly to retailers, states – and consumers.

Danner has been given an opportunity by MHProNews to respond to such questions and concerns, and has declined comment. ICYMI, see the prior report on industry professionals – including, but not limited to, MHI members – calling for Danner’s ouster at HUD, linked here or from the image above.

MHARR is calling for the prompt replacement action. “Ms. Danner and replacing her with a knowledgeable, capable and unbiased appointed non-career program administrator in accordance with section 620 (a)(1)(C) of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000.”

Among their points?

  • Ms. Danner and replacing her with a knowledgeable, capable and unbiased appointed non-career program administrator in accordance with section 620 (a)(1)(C) of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000.”

  • “…costly substantive changes to the existing federal installation standards for “frost-free” shallow foundations through an alleged “Interpretive Bulletin” that will unnecessarily increase the cost of manufactured housing…”

  • “…setting the groundwork to drive State Administrative Agencies (SAAs) out of the program through a combination of increased responsibilities and requirements together with unchanged funding levels…”

  • “…continued the program’s baseless, extra-regulatory expansion of in-plant regulation – which only benefits program contractors…” and larger producers more able to sustain the costs.

Sources tell the Daily Business News that “several” state association executive directors feel much the same.

MHProNews also reached out to some known friends of Danner, and gave them – as well as Danner – a chance to respond and defend her actions.

None would do so on the record.
