MH Community Owner Slapped with Lawsuit, Slaps back at Former Resident

Penn__Allegheny_County___Twin_Circles_MHP__Cox_Media_Group__credit postedDailyBusinessNewsMHProNewsUpdating a story MHProNews posted July 28, 2016 regarding a lawsuit brought against a manufactured home community (MHC) owner in Pennsylvania for closing his community and neglecting to notify the residents of his responsibility to pay relocation costs, MHC owner Bill Chen is now suing a former resident for failure to pay rent.

Chen had allegedly sent two notices to residents about closing the community but failed to mention he is required to pay $4,000 to $6,000 for relocation expense to each homeowner, and $2,500 if the MH cannot be moved. The woman he is suing says she is the one owed money, according to wpxi11news.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s lawsuit against Chen and his wife’s Twin Circles Mobile Home Park alleges violations of the Manufactured Home Community Rights Act and the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

The suit seeks payment to the displaced residents according to the law, plus $1,000 for each violation of the Manufactured Home Community Rights Act (MHCRA) and the Consumer Protection Law.

Moreover, the civil suit asks fro $3,000 for each resident over 60 years old impacted by Chen’s actions. The amount owed to Chen by the former resident was not disclosed. ##
