Massachusetts Tightening Modular Inspection Requirements

massachusetts-quarterFrom FoxNews Boston, MHProNews.com learns that Massachusetts is cracking down on modular home builders and inspectors. That’s in light of previous stories on the network that the network says exposed flaws in state oversight of the industry. FOX told the story of Ron and Phyllis Chasse who bought a modular home, but ended up losing their life savings. Following the story the state ordered the home to be gutted and uncovered electrical and plumbing issues. Currently inspected inside the factory by company-hired inspectors, Manufacturers and inspectors will now need board approval to be certified in Massachusetts instead of just approval by state staffers. According to the report the home was manufactured by Signature Homes. The company says there has only been one complaint in the state.
