Manufactured Housing F&I Association Division Chairman Dies

Roger Allen, 64, passed away at his home in Tampa on Sunday, July 1, 2018 following a brief illness.

 

The Florida Manufactured Housing Association (FMHA) to the Daily Business News that Allen “…was the long standing chairman of FMHA’s Finance and Insurance Division and was instrumental in the success of the annual F & I Fun’N’Sun event. Roger was also twice the recipient of the William Turney President’s Award. Although his contributions to FMHA will be missed, memories of the remarkable person that he was will not fade.”

Legacy said that Allen was “Born on September 15, 1953 in Valdosta, GA, he lived in Tampa for most of his adult life.”

Dignity stated that “Roger is survived by his wife, Debi and daughters Vanessa Kocher (Nathan) and Devany Ledford (Robert) along with three grandchildren whom he adored, Kaila, Ethan and Parker Ledford. Roger was predeceased by his father, Dewey Allen, on March 7, 2017 and survived by mother, Frances Allen of Clinton, MS, and brother Greg Allen (Melany) of Clinton, along with a host of nephews and nieces. Roger later moved to Durham, NC where he was proud to earn his Eagle Scout in his teens. After high school the family moved to Mississippi where he attended Mississippi College and Ole Miss. He made many lifelong friends and memories during the Mississippi years. Roger was always the life of the party with his witty humor. He later moved to Tampa where he met his wife and spent much of the time at the beach he loved so much. He enjoyed having a house full of kids and quickly became many of his daughters friends “second dad.”

He will be missed by all of his family, friends, coworkers of many years and those who really knew him well.” 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 7 from 2 to 4 pm at the Civitan Beach Club located at 18602 Gulf Blvd, Indian Shores, FL 33785.
