Manufactured Housing Community becomes Resident-Owned

The Northwest Cooperative Development Center (NWCDC) assisted the residents at the 59-homesite manufactured home community Thunderbird in buying their community for $1.57 million, now named Whispering Pines Homeowners Co-op in Oak Harbor, Washington. Households each buy one low-cost share to become members of the co-op which gives them one vote on matters that come before the community. ROC (resident-owned communities) USA and the Washington State Housing Finance Commission provided financing for the project, which sits near Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, according to realestaterama.com. MHProNews has learned NWCDC will continue to provide technical assistance to the co-op for the length of the mortgage—at least 10 years.
