Manufactured Home Community Planned in Alberta, Canada

Canada__oxford_landing__penhold_alberta_ca__innisfailprovince_dot_ca__creditIn order to offer its citizens a more affordable housing option, the town of Penhold in Alberta, Canada is proposing a 200+ site manufactured home community, as innisfailprovince.ca tells MHProNews.

Kristina Schmidt, Penhold’s planning and development officer, recommends amending the Land Use Bylaw zoning to allow for increased density on the 24 acre-site in this town north of Calgary. “The town’s planning and development department received an application from Stantec Consulting on behalf of Melcor Development (Ltd.),” said Schmidt. Melcor has already subdivided and re-zoned the land for the subdivision called Oxford Landing.

Once administrative approvals have been arranged, construction won’t begin until the beginning of the spring and the initial stages of the manufactured home park will be ready for this fall,” said Schmidt. The homes are expected to retail for around $150,000.

The community is surrounded by the park, trails and the community lake. Melcor will own and manage the community. ##

The town council passed the amendment to the Land Use Bylaw on first reading, and it will now go to a public hearing on Feb. 22. ##
