Manufactured Home Community may Expand to Increase Affordable Housing

colorado_basalt__el_jebel_mobile_home_park__mhvillage_creditSeveral possibilities are being bandied about in an attempt to increase affordable housing in the middle Roaring Fork Valley around Basalt, Colorado, just northwest of Aspen.

One project that complies with Basalt’s affordable housing requirements envisions 60 small single-family homes and 96 multi-family units in four separate buildings.

Meanwhile, the owner of El Jebel Mobile Home Park has applied to expand the 298 home site community by adding 46 two-and-three bedroom modular homes. Crawford Properties LLC would make the homes rentals in this all age community that was built in 1970, as MHProNews has learned from aspentimes. The project is under review by Eagle County.

Additionally, Habitat for Humanity is considering 40 affordable housing units near Basalt High School, while the Eagle County government is assessing a proposal to acquire U. S. Forest Service land that could provide 175 to 225 affordable housing units. ##
