Mainstream News Writer Reed Sings Praises of Modern Manufactured Homes

ChrisReedToutsPraisesModernManufacturedHomesSanDiegoUnionTribuneDailyBusinessNewsMHProNewsA commentary by Chris Reed in the San Diego Union Tribune, ran today under the headline, “Answer to housing crisis is in plain sight: manufactured homes.”

While it doesn’t reference MHLivingNews or other published commentary produced by MHProNews, beginning with their headline, it hits several of the same points previously made.

Reed’s article makes the following points:

This may be remembered as the year California’s leaders finally grasped that a lack of housing was an enormous problem,”

  • Trailer parks have long suffered from a downscale image.”
  • The London Independent… cruelly portrayed, pilloried, as uncouth, unhygienic, slovenly, illiterate, insolvent … even if trailer moms, trailer dads, toiled 60 hours a week in low-paid, low-prestige, dangerous jobs, they were defined by the fragility of their plywood roofs.”
  • Manufactured homes built entirely at factories… are far more durable and attractive than the “mobile homes” of old and remain vastly cheaper than conventional brick-and-mortar homes.”

  • The Independent article that brought up “trailer trash” stereotypes went on to tout the promise of prefab houses and to applaud the British government for making such homes a central part of its plan to build 1 million new housing units by 2020.”
  • In Japan, the embrace of manufactured housing came decades ago.”
  • But Buffett isn’t the only mega-billionaire who appreciates the alternative to conventional home building. Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page have given their blessing to an innovative housing project…” a modular project, MHProNews has previously reported on.’
  • If you think that the building and construction trade unions that demanded and won that concession will accept the Legislature making it easier for state residents to buy high-quality manufactured houses for $70,000, you’re not paying attention,” he said, referring to the politics behind parts of California’s Senate Bill 35.
  • Nationally and globally, it’s going to be exciting to watch manufactured housing explode, as seems likely to happen, and see if Warren Buffett or his heir beat Amazon’s Jeff Bezos,” Reed said.

“The Solution to the Affordable Housing Crisis is Hiding in Plain Sight” – manufacturedhomelivingnews.com

“…lower rates of crime than you would expect, because they had pride of ownership …” – William P. McCarty , PhD – University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Criminology, Law and Justice “What may be surprising to real estate licensees is the level of energy efficiency available …”

Beginning with the headline, each of those topics have been covered by MHProNews, MHLivingNews or third-party mainstream media that this publication’s publisher has been cited, thanks to the support of several industry supporters.

Rising Renters Nation, Pew Research, Overlooked Affordable Home Ownership Solution, plus Infotainment Videos – manufacturedhomelivingnews.com

A new report issued by Pew Research documents a trend that millions are all too familiar with. Namely, that renting households are up in the U.S. What the report doesn’t do is point out the solution that’s hiding in plain sight. The solution and videos below follow a quick look at the troubling facts and trends that Pew documented.

Why Are Billionaires Attracted to Manufactured Homes? – manufacturedhomelivingnews.com

The truth is never misguided. There may be better times or better ways to share the truth. But those are prudential judgments, that are very much compatible with the truth. In circumstances where persuasion: among people, in education, marketing political, or other scenarios matters, there are times when an upward compromise can advance the truth.

Coincidences?

Publisher Rebuked! Doubting Doctor, Skeptic Stunned! – manufacturedhomelivingnews.com

Let’s begin with a blast of honesty. Doing some Inside MH video episodes are more fun than others. At the start and end of the video below, yours truly gets rebuked by a person being interviewed. Part of what’s interesting in doing unscripted interviews is that you never know what someone is going to say.

While it would have been nice to have been cited, software-generated reports reflected days ago that journalists were doing research on our sites.  It happens.

No Longer “Trailer Trash” – Manufactured Homes are Quality, Affordable Housing – manufacturedhomelivingnews.com

Al Kemp, the Executive Director of the Manufactured Home Park Owners Alliance of British Columbia has an important message. ” Trailers haul beer. Manufactured homes provide housing for people.” When talking about them to the public, or to elected officials, that’s the first item that Kemp likes to clear up.

While parts of Reed’s commentary might have been phrased differently, this stands head-and-shoulders above the bulk of what mainstream media coverage is like.

Against his mostly bright commentary, the conclusion Reed draws to is this. Either way, Californians are vastly more likely to be reading about the phenomenon on their phones than witnessing it in their back yards.”

In other words, Reed believes embracing manufactured homes will likely not be happening any time soon in their state, even though their state – and the rest of America – needs what manufactured homes provide.

On terminology, and so many other issues of importance to those who need our homes, Reed’s article shines above many others in mainstream journalism.
