Macedonia Refugee Center Importing more Modular Units

Macedonia_refugee_center_at_Tabanovce__photo_credit_MIAThirteen additional modular units have been added to the Tabanovce refugee transit center in Macedonia, where thousands of refugees cross almost every day as they head toward the European Union countries, as independent.mk informs MHProNews. The added housing will accommodate the most vulnerable refugees, and will provide office space to workers helping the refugees. There will also be a kitchen and a canteen that will serve 120 people simultaneously.

Five power generators will power the center, said Goran Stojanovski of the regional Crisis Management Center. He added, “The center is not being expanded, but we are adding to its facilities. We expect additional 23 containers from the International Organization for Migration, that are due on Tuesday. We are also working to set up additional toilets for both men and women, as well as for the employees.”

A train arrived Sunday with 560 refugees who received clean clothing, food and rain coats. Macedonia and further north countries along the Balkan refugee route only offer those fleeing from Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria to cross the borders.

There are 11 Somali asylum seekers who are at Tabanovce waiting to be returned to Greece. ##
