HUD Adopts Architectural Assoc. Standard for MH Glass

mhi photo credit mh under productionThe Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC) has endorsed the current standards for glass windows and doors in manufactured housing as recommended by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), according to thomasnet.com. Says Rich Rinka of AAMA: “This is a major victory. Without MHCC’s blessing, there would be no changing from the currently recognized standards. The formal adoption process is long and arduous, and this is a critical first step toward HUD recognition of the 2012 versions of AAMA standards.”

Rob Luter, of AAMA’s Manufactured Housing Council, says, this is “a long overdue step toward the recognition of current fenestration and testing standards tailored specifically to the HUD Code manufactured home.” He says the administrator for the HUD Office of Manufactured Housing, Pamela Beck Danner, “expressed an eagerness to explore a two year code cycle for the HUD Manufactured Housing Standards, giving opportunities to make regular adjustments to the standard using a transparent consensus process.” MHPronNews understands the MHCC is a federal regulatory body that makes recommendations to HUD regarding HUD Code homes. ##
