The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reports that Rep. Gary Miller (R-Calif.), and Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.) introduced HR 1755 to ease restrictions on credit available to home builders as a means to kick start home building activity.  NAHB estimates three million jobs and $145 million in wages have been stymied since the housing crunch began in 2006.  The Home Construction Lending Regulatory Improvement Act of 2011 would address stumbling blocks to credit access for the nation’s home builders. The two Reps. Miller said, “One of the major reasons for this lack of credit is the overly restrictive actions by banking regulators which have hindered federal and state chartered banks and thrifts’ ability to make and maintain loans to qualified small home builders that have viable projects.”
