Judaism, like Christianity or Islam, are not monolithic in their beliefs. There are branches of Jewish belief, not unlike the symbolic branches of the menorah.

At dinner with a Jewish friend on the first evening of Hanukkah, among the comments from our guest?  “If you have 10 Jews in a room, you’ll have 11 opinions.”

Of course, that could be said about other faiths or groups too. A practicing Jewish reader emailed MHProNews in part to explain that for Jews, Hanukkah is a minor feast, that is ‘extra-biblical,’ and treated by many like their version of a Christmas celebration, with an exchange of gifts, parties, and feasting.

Our industry has a number of prominent as well as rank-and-file members of the Jewish community.  While some are enjoying Christmas parties, this week there are those who are celebrating Hanukkah, as our publisher noted in the recent column, which can be accessed by clicking on the linked box below.

The Masthead

” It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.” – Motto of the Christophers. Our friends, colleagues, clients, and readers in manufactured housing span the gamut of almost any groups or subgroups one cares to mention.

The White House provided the official photo at the top.  The statement and video below from the White House press room are insightful, challenging, and thought provoking.

Melania and I send our warmest greetings to our Jewish brothers and sisters in the United States, in Israel, and around the world celebrating Hanukkah.

For eight nights, Jewish families and friends will come together to engage in the lighting of the menorah.  This special tradition started more than 2,000 years ago during the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, which followed a trying period when Jews were persecuted for practicing their faith.

Unfortunately, Jews today continue to face many different forms of violence, hatred, and bigotry around the globe.  We remember all those from the Tree of Life—Or L’Simcha Congregation—whose lives were tragically taken in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this past October.  As one Nation, we pledge our continued love and support for the victims, their families, and the community, and we pray that the victims’ families find some measure of peace and comfort during this holiday season.

Over the coming days, may the warming glow of each candle on the menorah help fill homes and hearts with love and happiness.  Together, we reaffirm the truth that light will always break through the darkness.  We send our very best wishes for a blessed and happy Hanukkah.

The president’s daughter Ivanka, his son in law and their children are Jewish, as many know. The full length video of a gathering and remarks is below.

It has been one year ago since President Donald J. Trump announced that he would move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.   While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering,” President Trump said.

Yesterday, President also welcomed Holocaust survivors for a Hanukkah reception in the East Room of the White House.

As manufactured housing professionals ponder a controversial and disruptive Trump Administration, it bears mentioning just how often the 45th president has said he would do something, and then moved on to do it.  Of course, there are still some issues that are pending – such as the border wall.  But the administration has clearly done more on reinforcing the border than previous administrations did.

One of our focus reports yesterday was on media coverage, and the bias or agendas that the media often has.  It is worth pondering why less of the pomp and circumstance of this White House is being presented by some networks. One day at a time, one ceremony at a time, there are clear signs that celebrations of diversity that are unifying are taking place.  Reporting on those is a arguably a healing balm, good to ponder at this sacred time of year.

Once more, to our Jewish readers, we wish them a happy Hanukkah, and to our Christian readers we wish them the blessings of Advent. ## (News, analysis, and commentary.)
