Gated Community of Ten Modular Homes to Rise in Florida Keys

modular_home__champion_home_builders_incA new development of ten modular homes is being planned in Key West, Florida, according to keysnews. The Enclave on the Riviera will feature single-family stilt homes starting at $799,000, said realtor Bascom Grooms of the 1,800 square foot homes, each with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths.

The gated community will include a community pool and cabana, environmentally friendly construction, stainless steel appliances, covered porches, lush landscaping and a decorative wall that will encircle the community. The 4.2 acres includes 2.4 acres of protected wetlands, which MHProNews understands cannot be tampered with.

City Commissioner Barry Gibson wanted the city to buy the property in 2010 and develop it into a city park, but that proposition was too expensive. The land was sold in 2013 for $600,000.

The homes will be built three feet above FEMA’s minimum flood elevation, which will also allow for cars to park underneath. The first two homes will be sited this fall. ##
